Time before flight LAX-JFK with Delta T5 that we can check luggage?

I had a search and couldn't find an answer for this...

We are arriving into LAX on Virgin about 0700am, our Delta flight to JFX leave LAX T5 at 1415pm.

My question is can we check in and drop our bags with Delta domestic at 0800am?

If not I've seen some recommendations about taking an airport shuttle bus and leaving bags with concierge (10usd tip) and heading to Manhattan beach or the Westfield or similar.
