Personally I liked a video from about 15-20 years ago that had a checklist at the beginning to remind regular travellers of the key points. Whilst the purists amongst us will say, but people should listen to the whole video, the pragmatists will say many people won’t (human nature) so having a short reminder is not a bad idea.

"Subtly every aeroplane is different, that's why you need to watch this demonstration. At the very least run through this quick pre-take-off safety checklist."

Well that's an idea to mix it up!

I must admit the other day on my flight they accidently ran the Indonesian version for a few seconds which was... different :D

I wonder how crew would feel about that. They have to put up with the videos 10000x more than us as pax.

I guess we know they have different versions for domestic and for each fleet type so it doesn't seem too difficult to perhaps have more differences across fleet types and potentially flights, but it might also be an added PITA for crew to know oh this is flight needs this one or whatever.

Certainly don't mind the idea for variety.
They ran the Chinese version for a few seconds after the English one had completed on QF10 ex-LHR the other day.

I did chuckle to myself when I sat through the first time when they stopped running the "Qantas was the first airline to introduce Business Class" to simply "Qantas first introduced business class"

I agree it's too long. It's an interesting watch the first time, but it's just a drag to sit through after that.

Also, for me, the safety aspect gets lost amongst the 'plot'.

Recently I flew with JAL, and found their
short and simple 3D animation to be much more affective at drilling home the key safety messages.
One thing that does strike me is how long the QF video is, the version on youtube is more than 8 minutes long. The AA video is only 4 minutes. - and the QF one isn't even bilingual (like the Air Canada / Air France etc ones are).
