Timeline on purchasing AA tickets via the call centre

The award chart on AA for RJ is updated including EQP. SO far, they have not updated JL or MA so I still don't know whether to keep NRT-BNE as QF codeshare or switch to JL. My concern is, that I may book it as JL in B class which is what a GLOB ticket currently books into, ONE tickets can't use JL at all. They have to allow ONE fares in JL after 1 April but what class? The norm is to book them in L class so if I book in B class, they may later downgrade me to L class which currently earns no miles or EQP in AA. I know they can do a schedule change after a ticket is issued I think they can do a booking class change if they switch the ATW fares to L.

Hopefully the taxes will go down since the AUD was .75ish in Dec and now it's hovering around .80 of USD.

OK, yesterday I called the Indian call centre and said I am ready to pay for the tickets. They said they would send it to the USA ATW office to get the fare re-quoted. It took over 24 hours to get a reply back.

The ATW office screwed up! They said I have too many SEGMENTS in South America. If I read the rules correctly, yes segments are what count on a ONE ticket not a GLOB ticket.

<H2>Flights and stopovers
  • There are limits on the number of stopovers you may take:
Fare Tier
Stopovers permitted
Tier 1
Minimum of 3, maximum of 5 stopovers, with no more than 2 within any region.
Tier 2
Minimum of 3, maximum of 10 stopovers, with no more than 3 within any region.
Tier 3 and Tier 4
Minimum of 3, maximum of 15 stopovers, with no more than 4 within any region
All tiers
A maximum of two stopovers is permitted in your region of origin. These are included in the above maximum stopover limits

</H2>
STOPOVERS are what count in a LHGLOB34 and I pointed this out to the CSR and she agreed. She has actually been very helpful, it isn't her fault the Yanks messed up the quote.

I have 4 stopovers: IPC, PEM, CUZ, GRU.

One would think the ATW fare quoter would get it right when they saw a TN segment which wouldn't apply to a ONE ticket.

Tiki,

Have a great trip and we look forward to a wonderful trip report. (says he who doesn't write trip reports)

I just rang and paid over the phone last night - haven't received an email or anything so I guess I won't have to do the fax back thing as someone didn't have to do either.

I will let you all know what my timeframe is. :)

You won't have to do any faxing if the amount involved is less than $1000.

Whoa. Mine is way over.

Better give them a call and say I didn't get an email. GRRR!

Thanks for letting me know :) :)

Hmm - it sounds like they asked for your credit card details over the phone?

IME when the amount was greater than $1000, they merely took down my email address and sent the form over. I did not supply my credit card details over the phone at all. The form should not take more than an hour to arrive.

Yup I had to give all the details over the phone with expiry date etc. and billing address.

The ticket still says 'held' when I log in to AA.

Been 24 hours exactly

Time to call back the call centre if you havn't received the email and request it again.

Some people here have copies of the form and could probably email you one and you can then fill in the appropriate sections.

Sometimes the fax isn't needed. I know it wasn't required for one purchase of mine that was around $US1100. If they requested your CC details, perhaps it isn't required.

AA Sydney should ticket the booking and send you a receipt and itinerary within a couple of days.

Can you check your Credit Card and see if the balance has gone down/been put on hold for the purchase?

Does yours require a paper >16 segment ticket? If so, that is why it is still sat in a hold state since it requires someone to spend a lot of time to handwrite the ticket

I would suggest calling and checking the status though

Dave

Just rang :)

They are SOOOOO nice in that call centre!

Anyway she said I definitely should have got it, so she is emailing me another copy.

If it isn't here in 20 minutes aka after I have finishing conditioning my hair, I will call them back! ;)

Will keep y'alls posted. :)

The gal last night said it was an e-ticket. It is just QF23 MEL - LAX. (See the other thread in Qantas... I was about to pay $2100 over Qantas for a oneway to LAX... by booking on AA... $1600.)

So I don't mind calling lots or the bother ;) ehehehhe

I hope that QF23 is a typo and you really meant either QF25 or QF93 since they are the two flights that operate MEl-LAX.

LOL LOL Nothing gets by you lovely people does it? heheheheh

QF23 oopsy.

Anyway great news - email has come through. Bless AA. :)

Just check your booking on AA.com and if it shows:
"Status -
Ticketed <date>"

you should be fine.

To double check, select "Print Itinerary and receipt"; a pop up window will appear.

If it shows a ticket number and a Total price in AUD it's OK.
