Can anyone tell me when Qantas will start (and finish) confirming successful upgrades for a domestic flight? I have put in a request to upgrade 2 paid tickets to business MEL to ADL on points (not a bid).
I am asking because I am not interested in a last minute upgrade as we would spend more time in the lounge than the air. So I would want to know at least 6 hours before the flight to re-plan the departure time.
I understand you can cancel a request at any time before an upgrade is confirmed, so for example if all points upgrades are done 3 days out and chances are then close to zero if I haven't heard, I would cancel the request 2 days out rather than stress about it on the day.
Incidentally, Expert flyer shows 7 seats blocked, 1 occupied and 4 available but it is for Gather Round so seats will probably fill one way or the other.
