However, there are very few reports of a status upgrade being granted by Qantas to a customer without the required initial qualification being achieved.

Notwithstanding the reported status extensions etc, I was making a jocular statement that was jocular in nature.
By definition, everyone is going to find it easier to retain status with qantas because less SC are required to retain the same status. This isn't sacasitic wit (the lowest form of wit and my favourite kind); it isn't irony, I think. Which leaves me at a loss the describe the type of humour I was trying to employ. But point taken that I failed. ops

The pollies oftentimes jump over others to CL membership, without prerequisites...that's what I have read in these forums anyway.

If I book two JASA CBR to Hobart on the same flight will I net 400 SCs? Time is of the essence, I have one month to qualify and this will be the difference between me going for WP or not.

You can book two seats and get the points/SCs for both, which means 400 if its a return trip, 100 SCs per seat each way:

Won't be using points for a while anyway so no major loss.

Driving down to Canberra, using a parking voucher compliments of Qantas, hotel cost in Hobart at the airport = $126.

Very cheap way to Platinum in my mind.

From SYD why not do SYD-ADL-PER-ADL-SYD like I am currently on, 84000 points and I get 560 SC's (double promo) and earn 9500 points.

Even without double SC's it still earns 280.

I don't have the double promotion. If I did this itinerary would cost me 44,000 for 400. Much better value than the one you suggested.

I thought you were on the double promo.

I was thinking of saving the drive to and from CBR.

Enjoy the trip and if going on a weekend take time to go to the markets in Hobart, well worth the trip.

Did you follow the instructions from Qantas about booking an additional seat for comfort? The instructions say to call your local Qantas office for more information about purchasing additional seats for personal comfort. Just booking two seats on-line may not meet the requirements to ensure the system understands you want two seats for the personal comfort. Note that its possible the system will note it as a duplicate reservation and may cancel one or both of them.

I suggest you call Qantas reservations to ensure the booking is understood by Qantas to be as you expect.

Be very careful about booking an additional seat for extra comfort thinking you will get double SCs.

From my understanding you will get the additional QFF points but not additional SCs for the extra seat. There have been many reports on AFF in the past confirming it.

Did you ring Qantas to confirm, I have never read of anyone doing it let alone finding the SCs not posting, of course that does not mean it has not happened . It also does not mean you will get the advice which is correct, having spent 30 minutes on the phone with the contact centre yesterday as they insisted that any seat awards did not accrue SC's :evil:!

Yeah I called her and she checked the T&C's for me. ASA only accrues points and SCs on the first seat purchased.

Have rebooked another flight which means two drives to Canberra!:shock:

Thats no good at all, I would have thought it would be in their interest to promote such bookings as two separate flights, after all it means more room for cargo and a lighter aircraft!

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to this forum, and I really want to get to WP status this year. I travel alot for work (mainly domestic) and a few times International (both work and personal) so the better lounge privileges for WP are reason enough to try hard and achieve it. I have until end November. Presently I have 430 SC banked, and another 730 already booked for my trip to the USA in September (QF J and AA F), so I'm left needing 240 SC before end November.

I am likely to do a few SYD-BNE trips to see my family between now and then, but in whY they nett only 20 SC. I don't necessarily want to use hundreds of thousands of miles on complex ASA's to get the status (as my partner will not agree and think i'm being silly, he doesn't get it... )

So what are some ideas for the best value direct flights on JASA to get maybe 160 SC without goin round the houses.. (maybe over 2 trips?)

All advice welcomed.
