We have a short overnight stay at NRT prior to our flight to GUM next morning so I've booked the Crowne Plaza NRT for that night.

Our 2nd stay in NRT we have from about 1000 to 1400 the next day so was thinking of staying in either Ginza or Shinjuku areas so looking for recommendations.

If we were to stay at the CP NRT again is the airport bus the most economical way to get into town & back?

Thanks in advance.

I've stayed at the Hilton Shinjuku. I really liked this hotel. Excellent EL there too. The airport limo bus (its not a limo, just the company name I assume). Stops there.

I've also stayed at the Conrad which is on the southern border of Ginza. Great hotel, with great restaurants etc etc. Just didn't feel the same level of love there as the Hilton though.

If the idea is to simply relax in a nice hotel, then I'd go the Conrad. If you are going to spend your time out and about, then anything near a train station would be the go. Don't forget the trains stop during the night (midnight I think?).

Enjoy!

I can recommend the hilton NRt if you want another option there. 15 min free bus ride. Like most NRt hotels, bus stop is right outside the terminal. Rooms are big for Japanese standards. Easy.

In Ginza I've stayed at the Mercure Ginza. Rooms are fine, with prefabricated cubes for bathrooms like many Japanese hotels. A little small, but bearable. If you're platinum, they'll give you the bigger room (about 1.5 x the size and they have about 2 on each floor).

Fantastic location one block back from the main strip (Ginza dori). Near the Dior building, and main department stores. You can walk the main Ginza strip in about 20 moms eAch way from the hotel. McDonalds underneath, udon places galore plus Starbucks and Western style coffee shops and convenience stores within 1 to 2 blocks.

Catch the Keisei Access Express to the Aoto metro Station and change for higashi Ginza (East Ginza station).
Details here: http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetudou/skyliner/us/

Walk is about 5 minutes. There is also a station under the hotel, but easiest to get to higashi Ginza.

A tad "different" , but we enjoyed our stay at the Nikko at Odiaba.
Not the newest or flashest and quite Japanese.. but very large rooms most with a lovely big balcony overlooking the "technicolour" bridge.
There was all sorts of interesting stuff around Odiaba..just watching the locals out and about was a study.
Lovely place, Tokyo…..

We stayed at the Hilton Narita for 3 nights last week (missed our QF due to heavy snowfalls on highways/train tracks) and couldn't get on a flight for 3 days.
The hotel is only 10 mins via free shuttle to/from the airport. They also have a free shuttle to Narita station and Aeon Mall.
Shuttle timetable: http://www3.hilton.com/resources/media/hi/NRTHIHI/en_US/pdf/en_NRTHIHI_bus_timetable_Jul2013.pdf

So, it was a trip into Tokyo for the day to purchase new skis and boots!
Keisei Limited Express from Keisei Narita station to Nippori - 750yen.
Then JR Nippori to Ochanomizu station - 150yen. (Nippori to Tokyo with one change is also 150yen or Shinjuku is 190yen)
