RooFlyer sounded like a really annoying experience but glad you got recovered as per your rights! Just curious did they rebook you with an AA flight number or JL flight number?

Others have summarised it well, JAL's customer service in this case was much better (and competent) than AA's.

One PNR wouldn't have helped. It needs to be one ticket.

There can be multiple tickets within the same PNR, but it is how the segments are ticketed that determines what happens for instances of missed connections.

A confusion of terminology in that post. The intent is same ticket.

You can have countless items in a PNR. From air to car, hotel, cruise, insurance etc. You can also have a number of air tickets within the one PNR. But other than being stored in the same place, they aren't any more related from the suppliers point of view than if they were booked separately.
