Trip to the Intrepid

Taxi to the Intrepid $15 (inc tip)
Entrance fee $31 per adult (paid extra to see space shuttle)

Positives
- Good selection of aircraft, helicopters
- Intrepid historic items
- Growler submarine
- Space shuttle
- Ex Navy guys onsite telling stories of their time in service

Highlights
- Concorde
- Space Shuttle
- Harrier
- SR 71
- Tom Cat

Negatives
- School tours
- Concorde tour not available
- No souvenir shop onsite (currently being built)
- Space shuttle viewing ordinary, was surprised at its size
- Growler sub tour, very confined and you can only go as fast as the person in front of you
- Intrepid has lots of segmented areas and you could easily miss a section

Overall money well spent and was on board for 3 hours.

I am not one for musicals but if you are after a good stage show can recommend Book of Mormon.

Book of Mormon is from the creators of South Park, so it contains adult content, but definitely worth the admission price.

Theater is very small and intimate, i found the seats small (i am 6ft 4) but okay for the two one hour sessions with 15 minute intermission

Sorry no photos of the show.

Month of march they raise funds for "beyond broadway" a charity that supports many through the world.

You could purchase a poster signed by the cast for $200 or make a cash donation.

After a day of shopping, spent the evening at Maddison Square Gardens, NY Knicks vs Boston

IMG_0173.jpg

Once through security, you have a choice from many food outlets, team gear stores, excellent toilets, never queued more than 5 minutes for food or beer.

IMG_0174.jpg

As a big NBL fan (Perth Wildcats), what was disappointing was the fans, next to no involvement in chants etc, the only time they got excited was the free teeshirts.

IMG_0181.jpg

Small crowd at about 70% capacity, and with the Knicks getting spanked the crowd starting walking out at 3/4 time.

Last full day in New York... got dragged to the shops.. it is amazing the price difference on things even with the exchange rate going bad.

Tommy Hilfger polo shirts US$59
Tommy Hilfger business shirts US$40
Levi Jeans US$49
MAC makeup about 60% than OZ

Some stores like Macy's will offer 10% at the till simple because you are a overseas visitor

After 6 floors at Tiffany's managed to escape with out purchasing anything.

Lunch at Trump Tower, fixed price meal $24

Salad entree

Trump burger

Followed by Brownie and ice cream, oops eat half of it before i realized no photo.

Bottomless softdrink

Cheesecake is over the bridge in Brooklyn.. That's the best $8 a slice!

Air Canada Newark to Ottawa via Toronto

Warwick hotel to Newark by private car, left hotel at 7:30 arrived at 8:20 cost $121

Through security and at the gate with in 15 minutes.

Searched the Air Canada website, no lounge but access to the United lounge, which is pre security.

First leg was just under a hour in J on Embraer E175.

Was worried when the stewardess gave us a copy of the day's newspaper

And a very old plane, carpet was frayed, iFE screens scratched

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427453783.282047.jpg

Plenty of legroom

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427453027.414887.jpg

iFE screen, very small
No noise cancelling headphones and audio is mono

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427453098.806412.jpg

As always feet on the bulkhead

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427453152.554377.jpg

Pilot didn't spare the horses on getting to height, full power highest climb angle I have seen

Served a drink and offered a meal, which was butter chicken on a stick.

arrived at Toronto on time, went through customs and passport control in less than 10 minutes.

Went to check the next leg and Air Canada had changed our flight from 2:10 to 1:10 so had to rush through security and got to the gate 5 minutes prior to boarding. Our plan was to have lunch in the AC lounge but missed that opportunity.

Leg to Ottawa was on a A321

Plenty of leg room

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427454268.509986.jpg

Surprised also received a hot towel not bad for a flight less than 60 minutes

Sorry couldn't upload to last post, using app only allowed 5 images

Nice cheese plate to eat
