Hi all

I just searched for this one but does not seem
to be widely discussed.

I have just booked SYD - BLR - BOM all on one ticket with both flights having QF numbers.

Has anyone ever done this transfer process? Ie what happens past immigration?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

Ty

I have the same question. How did it go for you?

It‘s super easy!

You land, go through immigration, get your bag, go through customs, and then walk out the customs door a few meters into the Terminal. You will immediately see the check-in counters, you go to Indigo, they put new tags on and give you a boarding pass and off you go. Boarding a bus from gate to aircraft was chaos but I assume that was just the usual welcome to country 😂

With BLR T2 having opened for international flights in August 23 I think you will now need to take the land side transfer bus from T2 to T1 to catch your Indigo domestic flight to Mumbai. The transfer bus is free and is just to the right as you exit T2

Ah - thanks! I was lucky then - my trip was in March 2023.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. My second flight is indigo to Kochi and I have to change terminals (from 2 to 1). So baggage drop off was after the customs in same international terminal or did you carry your luggage to domestic terminal?

Are the bags not tagged all the way through as part of the codesharing agreement?

Yes. Before booking the ticket Qantas said the same. But now they say the luggage has to be custom checked at the first port of entry. I can do that but taking multiple baggage from one terminal to another in bus with 2 children seems to be so difficult.

Hmm, well its a similar experience if arriving into SYD and transferring to a domestic flight also.

Mine were as I went to Mumbai but I still had to pick them up and schlepp through customs as the Bangalore to Mumbai flight is just a normal domestic flight. No different to intl into AUS or US. QF Staff on QF67 made this also very clear to everyone with announcements.

I understand you have to retrieve and then move them, but I would've imagined they'd have been tagged to final destination, that you'd have your next boarding pass already in hand and it should be more a case of "drop off" of bag than having to go through the full checking in motions.

Otherwise I guess, what good is the partnership?

As I said, mine were tagged through but once I dropped them at Indigo, they did a full check-in process with me incl replacing the QF tags and putting “real” Indigo tags on.
