no, but looks good given I have some starpoints :)

if you value Velocity points at greater than 2.3cents there is also a good buy opportunity through SPG. They have a 25% discount on star point purchases at the moment. This makes 20000 star points USD$525 (~AUD$717). SPG offer a 5000 point bonus for every block of 20000 star points transfered. Combined with the bonus 25% Virgin are offering this would equate to 31250 velocity points. Works out to AUD$0.02294 per velocity point.

Slightly better than buying points through AMEX, but no where near as good as the credit card sign up bonuses on offer at the moment. Still it could be helpful if you are slightly short of an award

Great analysis!! I am currently sitting on 50K Accor Le Club points built up over 2 years with bonuses and when the AUD was a bit higher... Tempted to convert to VA but actually think they are worth more redeeming for future Accor stays when I do the cost / benefit analysis....

I purchsed 20000 SPG $717got a bonus 5000 points from SPG, then transferred the lot to VA and recieved another 5000 points, so all up 30000 points for $717, all wrapped up in 3 days or so, thats 2.4c per point
seems a nice way to top up points with VA if youre close to a goal of securing a reward seat.

One of the most difficult questions for me to answer is how to value Accor points.

I have accumulated ~26,000 Accor LeClub points in <12 months and I am now Accor Platinum. I mainly stay in cheap hotels in Thailand and can't use the points on sale rates. Have no interest in using the points on expensive hotels.

So what to do? I cannot accurately calculate the value of a Velocity point as they do not really have the awards I want. Transferring the points to SQ at 1:35->1 is quite costly. So would 26,000 Accor LeClub points get me 32,500 Velocity points with this promotion?

The good thing is the Accor LeClub points did not cost me much at all.
