Transferring in Singapore if booked on 2 different tickets.

Thanks, I did end up changing my QF81 to QF1 the day before. So we will be landing 9pm Singapore time.

Now to decide whether we go via immigration and get to a hotel by midnight or just book the expensive terminal hotel. Leaning towards a regular hotel. Some say 30min to collect luggage and clear immigration - sounds a bit too quick imo but I've never been there,
We were in Singapore in December. Immigration was very fast as it was the smartgates, however there was a problem with the luggage for the flight and we waited an hour for the bags to come out.

That’s unusual.

30 mins is not unusual.

I almost suggested getting QF81 so you have an “early“ arrival and time for dinner and a wander. Then the good part of the next day to see some highlights!

Anyway, I suspect you’ll want to stop over again after a short sampler visit.

Luckily you booked flexi - was there any change fee or fare difference?
Yeah I learned from losing $1100 to British Airways earlier this year on a $8700 booking. Couldn't believe it when they said it...

There was no fee or difference to pay as the flight was same price

I've checked the SIN transit hotel recently and stunned at the AUD250-350 rate for 6 hours. I think the cheapest hotel outside is minimum AUD150.

We have SIN transit coming up in 6 days arriving ~3:00am and departing ~1:00pm and we're just staying airport. In November I got all 3 of us in lounge but not sure that will keep working with 6 year old daughter getting older. We'll just sleep in the lounge chairs upstairs if they're still there.

I arrived on QF1 recently and slept on the floor in the quiet area outside the QF lounge before my flight to CNX the next morning...

Definitely stay land-side as you have a 24 hr layover, and if you've never been to SIngapore, it would be a waste to just spend that time airside (even though Changi airport is nice enough). A different scenario altogether to those with 7-8 hr layovers ....

I'd estimate you could easily be in taxi by 10:30pm - at the absolute latest - and at your hotel by 11pm if you stay in central Singapore, or at the hotel by 10:40pm if you stay landside at the airport (at the Yotel in the Jewel complex or the Crowne Plaza).

On return, probably a sensible idea would be to do early check in at Jewel (before 6:30pm, after that just go to regular counter in the terminal) explore the Jewel and Vortex and then head airside when you're ready.
