Hi all,

Hope this is the right place to post this question, sorry if it isn't.

I am flying NZ 5 LAX-AKL, departing 10:30pm. I have to get from ORD to LAX that day. Do you think I'll be ok to fly ORD-SMF-LAX, arriving at LAX 5:30pm? Travel is in July.

My concerns are:
1. I am aware that SMF can be prone to fog delays, but mostly in winter. Any other probs transiting there?
2. Getting paranoid about TSA delays at LAX.

It is the best-priced flight on AA that day, and I am chasing a few QFF SC's.

Fine or risky? What do you think. Grateful for any advice, thank you in advance.

24.

While I haven't transited through SMF before, I think 5 hours buffer at LAX is more than enough. In m experience TSA at LAX is not too bad.

Ok, thanks very much kermatu. I think you're right; I've booked the flight.

I don't know this for sure, but I imagine you'd be able to check bags through if you show both tickets at check-in. Even if not, there's plenty of time to retrieve and check-in again.

Enjoy your trip!
