25 years ago I transited through Dubai on Qantas, and the closest I got to Dubai was looking out the front door of the plane while I got some fresh air!!!!
In Feb, I'm on QF1 and was wondering what the go is for transit in Dubai. I'm guessing we get off and can stretch legs for and hour or so.
Can someone enlighten me what the current situation is please.

You'll get off and must take all of your possessions with you. Line up in a security line and be admitted to the airside of the terminal.

If you have lounge access due to status or class of travel then you make your way towards the lounge.

When it's time you go back through a security queue and await reboarding.

I don't think QF flew to DXB 25 years ago but may be mistaken. If you are continuing on QF1 to LHR then you can get of the plane to stretch the legs and get back on. If you are a QF Club member you can use the EK lounge .

It might not have been Dubai, but it was somewhere "in the gulf"
All I remember is hot air through the front door which was where we were able to stand, but we could not get off.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, looks like a leg stretch is about it, other than hitting the lounge. I might hope for a delay, and then I could have a shower.

QF flew via Bahrain. I wonder when they actually stopped. My last log book entry is '89, but then I moved to the 400. The -400s arrived around 1990, and they always flew direct from either BKK or SIN.

I think it was 1989 that the 747-400 started the Kangaroo Route with just a single stop in SIN.
