Transit query - Jakarta & Ho Chi Minh

Happy New Year to all and I hope 2025 is a good one.

If I am on the one PNR (connecting flight) from SGN-CGK-SYD - first leg on Vietnam Airlines and second leg on Garuda (Virgina Atlantic points - layover is 9h).

1. Will I need to pass through customs and collect my bags in Jakarta to check-in for 2nd leg of this itinerary?
2. In addition, if i need to pass through customs, I assume I'll need a transit or tourist visa, which presumably I can organise online?
3. It appears Terminal 3 is the likely terminal for arrival and depature in CGK

I am on one PNR (connecting flight) from SYD-SGN-HAN (Vietnam Airlines via Virgin Atlantic points) - from what I've read, it appears I go through customs in SGN, and they will provide me with a transit 'sticker' and then guide me through to the domestic terminal? I have 2.5h layover - will this be enough?

Thanks for the quick reply - I hope so! (Virgin Atlantic rep indicated we'd have to transfer, but I don't think they really know - with Garuda and Vietnam Air being both Sky Team and presumably having an interline agreement, I hope I can avoid it...)

With a long layover your might not want to transfer, grab a room at a nearby hotel ie FM7 Resort Hotel Jakarta Airport - Jakarta Airport Hotel, a tourist visa is required, and chill by the pool
