Transit through Changi - Tips, Tricks and Advice

I had an interesting one over the weekend.

Arrived from Malaysia on AirAsia into Changi T4. We had checked in online and had mobile boarding passes for QF to Australia. The guy at the T4-T1 transfer bus said we had to get a paper boarding pass at the Transfer Desk C.

At Transfer Desk C the staff refused to issue a boarding pass saying AirAsia is point to point and we must clear immigration. So we were carry-on only, mobile boarding pass in hand and had sucessfully transited airside from T4 to T1 but apparently we had to get a paper boarding pass from the post immigration checkin desk.

Is this a real thing? Would we have been able to board with the mobile boarding pass?

As we wanted to kill time at Jewel it was no big deal in the end but was annoying. I’ve never had issues transferring to AirAsia as mobile boarding pass seems to be fine over at T4. I’m sure last time I did the T4 to T1 transit it was no issue but maybe the QF First Lounge printed a paper boarding pass, I don’t recall.
 
In fact, as a private business, they can deny you carriage just because they don't feel like it that day. As long as it's not illegal discrimination they have no regulation forcing them to fly you.
 
Few years ago, about 2013, I had checkin for QF SIN - PER online, and printed the BP on A4 paper, at the Holiday Inn Atrium.
Got to the security point, the first one at Changi, cant remember which terminal, that QF dep from.
Got to the guy who firsts checks a person through, ie, the single person, standing by the metal bannister, so he looks at my paper BP, says, no, cannot, have to get a physical cardboardy true airline stock BP.
So I had to go to a QF counter, and get a true QF BP printed, when I went back to him with that, he stamped something onto it, and I got through.
SIN Changi does the real sec screening of HLO at the gate, which I knew.
But didnt realize that home printed BP were not allowed at Changi.
Tbought it had changed by now, seems not so.

It shouldn't be needed now. They barcode scan it now and you can use mobile ones.

That seems quite strange if you already have a mobile BP given they let you in with that and yes both of the QF lounges can reprint you boarding passes no problems. Maybe you just ran into a staff who's not very technology savvy.
 
I had a long day(s) transiting on Monday & Tuesday.
Spent 10 hours at Kuala Lumpur Departures area waiting for my flight. Spent about 7 hours of those cutting laps of the terminal until I could finally check in 3 hours before my flight to Singapore.
Once in Singapore I had an 11 hour overnight layover before my flight back to Australia. I spent 4 hours sleeping on the floor, 2 hours half asleep in a chair and the rest walking around or eating.
Got my steps up but terribly boring.

Ok I have a very strange potential situation.

I currently have a KUL - SIN - HND leg (MH/JL) that is on one PNR that is the start of a OWA.

I'm considering transiting through SIN on my positioning flight to KUL.

Would I be able to check my bags in to leg 2 (SIN - HND) when I'm at SIN earlier on the same day before taking my positioning flight to KUL?

So exAus - SIN (bag drop SIN - HND) - KUL then KUL - SIN - HND later that day and my bag is already dropped off.
