Transit Visa for India - NEED HELP

the e-visa process is still better than needing to hand in your passport at the consulate on specific days within specific times, and then collecting them also on specific days at specific times.

My favourite was when i was next in line and they closed the shutter on me telling me they were closed and to return the next day.

If you’re doing that kind of visa for Australia that means you weren’t eligible for an ETA and thus are considered higher risk. So I think that’s fair enough.

I just had a look at the ETA questions and it’s extremely basic, nothing really more beyond passport info and contact details.

Well, as far as I can tell, there is no mention of 'risk' on the website. But I haven't read it all.

But if it was, you'd have to wonder if the 'risk' of an applicant from Hong Kong is greater than that of, say, Latvia, Chile, Argentina, Lithuania.

I don't think its a matter of risk - more where the Australian government has reached some sort of agreement with the counterparty. 'Friendly/western' nations generally easier to do.

OK, if you want to put your head in the sand. Plenty of countries extend this to Australia (total 109) but we don't return it. Similarly we're pretty friendly with PNG and other Pacific Islanders, but they're not on our list.

Obviously countries put wealthy/developed countries on their ETA/Visa on arrival list because they are low risk of over staying their visa and/or coming for work etc. It's a pretty similar list for most countries whether we are friendly to them or not. We have money to spend in their country and won't be stealing their jobs.

Sorry if that's not politically correct, but it's reality.
