I have a friend who will be arriving in Perth on South African Airways and will be transiting to a VA flight to Sydney.

From what I can tell both arrivals & departures are at T1. What is the procedure after customs for re-checking luggage for the domestic flight assuming the bags have already been tagged all the way to Sydney?

The other question associated with this inquiry, if traveling on a SA ticket from J'burg to Sydney, does the luggage allowance offered by the SA ticket prevail for the domestic flight as well? My friend is traveling with golf clubs and wants to check if they'll be hit by a luggage charge from Perth to Sydney.

You collect your bags, declare to quarantine. Walk out of the secure zone. Head right towards the Virgin terminal to the counter that says domestic or international connections. Recheck baggage.
Baggage rules will be as per the SA rules.

I'm looking at an EY-VA international-domestic transfer in Perth later this year. AUH-PER-SYD.

Is 1h 40m enough time to make it? From what I can see, MCT is 1h 30m for EY-VA I-D T1-T1.

I guess the problem will be if our inbound flight is delayed, as it'll mean a 7+ hour wait until the next flight back to Sydney (the redeye). This will on a J redemption, and as much as I know it would be more sensible to do AUH-BNE-SYD where there are many more options if we misconnect, I'm finding it hard to say no to giving the new J on the A330s a go (as I otherwise wouldn't fly this leg). Hmm...

Should be simple to make, assuming nothing goes wrong. I'd book it with protections- I.e. If same ticket.
