Hi,
Its been about a year since I went trough LAX and am doing so again in about 2 weeks.

Looks like after arriving on VA7 I'm joining a Delta flight at Terminal 2, is walking still the best way to get there?

Coming back, I'm into T2 and need to get to VA8 for the trip back to Brisbane. Last year I was able to get a bus from the arrival terminal to international and stay airside, saving a bunch of time, is this still the best way?

I have 3.5 hours for the connection so should be fine but I'm also wary of any incoming delays (departing Vegas 6:15AM).

Many thanks for any updated advice!

T2 to Tom Bradley isnt that far. I have walked it, and I am carrying 50kg of stuff (suitcase, golf cough and carry on) without a trolley (flipping expensive), and I am a senior citizen now.

For me, walking is easier than dragging all my cough on and off a bus.

If you've been issued a VA boarding pass for you DL domestic flight, go to the DL transit desk before exiting to the street and have the DL agent re-print the boarding pass on DL paper. You could be lucky that in the DL reservation system you've been TSA approved and therefore can use the somewhat quicker security line at the DL terminal. It's worked for me in the past.

Thanks, interesting, and I take it you were travelling on an Aus passport?

Is this after luggage re-check in the Intl terminal?

It was an AUS passport.

I went to the agent where you would normally re-check your luggage before exiting to the street

That's not quite correct. It's only not an option when arriving internationally or into T1.

DL run an airside bus from T2-T3-TBIT, which is then connected airside to T4-5-6-7-8

Yep, that's the one I mean. Saved me a bunch of time last year, which was great as my inbound flight was delayed.

Essentially the strategy in the original post is the most straightforward. Walk from TBIT to T2 and clear security there on the outbound. Take the T2-TBIT bus on the return, staying airside.

There is one other option on the outbound which I actually prefer, but is a bit more convoluted. If you are traveling on one ticket and your luggage is checked through (or you don't have checked luggage), you can exit immigration after collecting your already-tagged luggage and turn right, rechecking your bag there. Then exit but take a sharp right, there is a tiny security area that reclears to the T4/TBIT walkway. This security is almost always empty and goes much quicker than T2 especially during the morning rush. The downside is you then need to take the TBIT-T2 bus. So it might be a wash, but I find it nice to be done with security and TBIT is nicer than T2 anyway, if you have some time to kill.

(the ability to stay airside security) thats not an option at LAX to/From Tom Bradley.

Yes, it absolutely is. From every terminal except T1. Read post#2. The OP was not taking a bus because they don't want to walk... the bus is the only way to transfer inside security (in the case of T2->TBIT).

After reading one or two comment I sort of get it. Then the more I read the more I m confused.
So, between tbit and t2/3 I can either walk or take bus. Either way it requires security re-enter. Somewhat int-domestic has a DL boarding pass option to allow TSA pre check for a fastrack..
Am I correct?

I have t3 this time. Can't want to see the "Costco"

This is my understanding...

Arriving International and transiting to Domestic.
You collect your bags and re-check them in TBIT after customs. Near backage re-check you can get your BP reprinted and you may be lucky enough to have TSA Pre-Check. Then you walk outside and on the pavement to T2/T3, its not far. At T2/T3 you need to re-clear security.

Arriving T2/T3 and transiting to International.
Assuming your bags are checked through you can walk outside to TBIT, reverse of the above. OR you can board a transfer bus which is airside, this means no need to re-clear security at LAX. I did this last year and was amazed how much time it saved. In T2 the bus queueing area is by gate 21. Make sure you get the right bus as there are two, one to T3 and one to TBIT. The bus actually drives along the apron, stopping for planes if needed.

Post #2 and it's link has everything you need to know. All the tunnels and bus routes described there stay airside (do NOT require security clearance).

I don't understand your second sentence at all..

Second sentence? TSA or Costo?

Thanks, that make sense. By reading the map, i guess without a checked bag i can stay airside either way by bus.

The necessity of clear and re-enter security is something i am not sure. I had my walk Domestic-Int last time when flying UA. Totally forgot what i did (my head was too preoccupied due to flu and bad UA experience). I reckon DL won't be more complicated than that.

Though, I watched youtube, somewhere mentioned that you can clear security anywhere in LAX, so no need to exit to tbit, walk a bit to t4 (if not DL), bus to t2/3 if DL.
