Transiting LAX to/from Delta

Thanks, that make sense. By reading the map, i guess without a checked bag i can stay airside either way by bus.

Even without a bag I'm pretty sure you need to clear customs/go groundside on arrival on an international flight.

Yes, although you can wander all of LAX inside security now in any direction (except for T1), all international arrivals get dumped to the outside world after immigration. So there is no way to stay inside security on an international arrival.

Thats for sure, its a rule for int. arrival. Too confused when info overload, some info must be taken out of context.

I guess you will be transiting earlier than me, pls do post your DL transit experience, i m looking forward to reading it :)

I'm arriving next Sunday morning then back the following Sat morning so will try to remember to do so.

On the way back I need to catch a 6:00AM flight out of Vegas with a party the night before. Must.go.to,bed.early!

Reporting back as promised, I arrived back this morning the shuttle busses are definately the go, very easy transit from T2/3 to TBIT without having to re-do security, I'd estimate this saves at least an hour when going dom->intl at LAX.

I did have distruption due to a cancelled Delta flight but that's in another thread and VA came through like champions.

Thanks Freebo! I m at bne silver Kris waiting for boarding va7. A bit anxious about lax security line...finger crossed. I was also hoping my onward DL depart at t2, so I could possibly shower (if lax and lounge are not too crowded).
Yes on my way back I will definitely go with the bus. Will report on any drama.
Also hope you had a blast at vegas!

Good luck, I had a very smooth transit LAX-T2 a week ago, make sure to follow the ESTA signs if you have one, on 13/7 off VA 7 it only took me about 30 mins to clear immigration and be outside walking to T2.

The year before it was more like 90 mins but I didn't notice any changes, other than the ESTA line seemed to wave me right through.

Thanks! Will ESTA all the way. I actually never had any drama at SFO JFK before and even return transit at LAX. But you never know...

Do VA J passengers transitting through LAX receive any priority?

I didn't, but this year my transit was very quick anyway.

There is a customs priority lane you get a card for when returning to Aus (BNE anyway).

Yeah I don't know if us airports care that much. Last time at JFK on vip lane, end up to be the slowest as no one was picking us...globle and normal queues were very quick. Aus airports do look after the pointy end of Travellers.
Though this morning even a security staff was publicly asking if business pngers are rich in front of all econ queues. I thought that was not professional.

Oh, thanks for that !

Just to be clear, it IS an option when arriving into T2/3 and taking the shuttle bus, airside, to TBIT. I did this 2 days ago, highly recommended to save time, you don't need to clear security at LAX as you already did it to board your flight into T2/3, for me I did it in Las Vegas.

Not when arriving into TBIT though to transit to T2/3, in this direction you must pass security out of TBIT and into T2/3.

My arrival was smooth. Despite of a 30min delay, the immi, cust and transit were smooth. Lax did not seem to care today, few qs then welcome to America.
TSA at T3 was a bit slow on my queue but staff were polite and efficient.
Now at a crowded skyclub above "Costco" admiring the runway.
