Hi everyone,

Have a couple of questions that I'm hoping I can get some feedback on.

As part of a 280K award part of our routing is BOG-DFW-MIA-LGA (the only routing I could find) all on AA metal all on the same day.

1. AA have changed flights and the departure time for the DFW-MIA leg. I now arrive in DFW at 5.05 in terminal D and depart from terminal O at 6.30. Is 1 hour 25 minutes enough time to get through immigration, collect bags and then recheck those bags whilst also changing terminals.
2. We now have a 7 hour transit in MIA and a question about lounge access seeing these flights include an international component. However our trip from BOG to DFW is in Y (Economy T) which I assumed at the time was due to the fact they were only selling Y and F on this flight though I have noticed it is now being marketed as J. All other flights are J, does that entitle us to lounge access in MIA or should we just get the bus down to South Beach and enjoy the day outside.
3. Will we have lounge access in BOG considering the BOG-DFW flight is Y even though it is a 280K award ticket. Both myself and MrsNick are recently back down to PS status
4. Is it worth ringing QFF and seeing if we can get this Y flight changed to J. Don't really think it would justify the 5K change fee per person but then again at the moment we are not getting what we "paid" for.

Appreciate any advice the forum can provide

Regards,

Nick

1. Assume this is AA1122 - which has a variety of scheduled times depending on the month. Whilst your arrival is Terminal D (for international) your departure terminal is unknown (there is no O) - could be A, B or C. No idea about the transit time suitability.
2. Unless you are in Business or First on the BOG-DFW, then no chance of access at all. Even then, the rules are not that clear, and do not necessarily state that access would be granted for the onward domestic connection.
3. Not unless you change to Business.
3. YMMV - if there is J award availability, and you booked before the class changed (i.e. it was F only previously), they may waive the fee - so worth a phone call to try.

1:25 would only be enough time if there are no delays at CBP or TSA, and even that would be pushing it unless the next flight is out of D.

AA has presence at all 5 DFW terminals and are exclusive user of A, B and C. B is all American Eagle, A and C are all AA mainline. D and E have some AA flights, but are mostly other carriers (D international carriers, E other US and preclearance carriers). AA flights could depart from anywhere, and the gate generally isn't known until the morning of the flight.
All the terminals are connected land side (free airport transfer bus) and airside (AirTrain and walking connectors). Depending on which terminals are involved and the time of day, it can take anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes to change terminals.

MCT (AA I->D) appears to be 85 minutes so it "sneaks" in. In no way does it meet my minimum "sensible" time of at least 150 minutes.

Be prepared to travel on the next flight to MIA in the "main cabin".

Definitely worth ringing and asking to change the seats fro Y to J
If you miss the flight DFW-MIA, there are lots more. But as Serty said, the next flight may be booked out in J. You could then ask when the next available J flight will be free, and if you could use AA lounge while you wait.
7 hours in MIA. Get an Uber or taxi to the beach or downtown

Good luck

Might be a silver lining if I miss the connection. Do you think AA might put us on a direct flight to New York? Seems to be plenty during the morning even if we did have to fly "main cabin"

Just signed up for AAdvantage and note that they are selling Award flights across all Y and J. Assuming that doesn't mean they would be made available for QFF. I will definitely ring up though

It's still only August, they have already made 4 changes to our internal US flights so who knows what it will actually look like on the day
