I will continue to strive towrds the pointy end nonetheless, so at least I will be exposed to a better class of disease.

I have never heard of the tail of an aircraft crashing into a mountain. ;)
 
While I do not wish to 'hijack' this thread, JessicaTam is welcome to a better class of person at the pointy end, but in the statistically extremely unlikely event of a crash, the two back seat rows or rows at the back rear of the wing are safest:

I am happy with those odds. ;)

Back on topic - my understanding* of the ventilation system on aircraft is that it is fairly localised. That is, the air recirculates within a small area of the plane, as opposed to flowing for the whole length, say.
