Travel credit converted into a Qantas Pass

the original booking was domestic. I called and the agent converted it all for me and got it to work. I have the flight on hold, I'm about to call back and book it.

OMG, I wish I had of booked earlier.
How can I have on my computer screen 343,000 yen as my ticket price.
I call and ask for my CREDIT of AU$397.60 to be applied to it, and they tell me I owe them 386,000 yen

No matter how many times I tell this agent she is charging me MORE than what is on the website she won't listen and insists my credit is gone and on the booking.
How can a credit make a price increase???
Arg, I've asked to speak to someone else and lord knows how long i'll be on this phone for, all of this has already taken an hour.

If it’s a flight credit, rather than a voucher or pass, then a common condition is that the new booking must be in an equal or higher fare class (not travel class; fare class) than the original booking. You might not be able to access certain sale fares, even in the same class and category, depending on this limitation.

It's the pass. I can use it on anything - treat like cash.
I gave up. I was on the phone for over an hour and didn't get anywhere with them.
I ended up probably regrettibly booking a Jetstar flight instead - it was half the price. HALF the price, I am sure half the service and who knows if I'll make it home, but $4K down to $2K was too good to refuse.
I'll use the voucher to contribute to getting me from Cairns to Canberra, because to fly to Gold coast with Jetstar and then onto Canberra with Virgin (or anyone) was $1K more just to get to Gold Coast and I know I can get us home from Cairns for less than that - especially with the voucher.

I thought the Travel Pass (credit converted into a pass) will give DSC? Is this true or have I got my understanding twisted ? I believe for flights booked during and cancelled by the airline during CoVID - pax could take a refund or take a credit with DSC. I took the credit (don't remember if I got DSC, however, the credit was taken for a PNR that was booked during the DSC window in 2020) ... Now, this credit is converted to a travel pass. Does this mean if I book using this TP (before 31/12/23), I'd get DSC?

I very vaguely remember that is to be the case - but can't a reference to it. Called the WP line, didn't know the answer either. The WP agent phoned FF centre and asked, they didn't know either. So they have taken my query as a case, will enquire and get in touch with me (god knows when, btw)

Not all Travel Passes give DSC. I believe TravelPasses with a bonus are only issued when Qantas otherwise owes you a refund, as an incentive to keep it as some sort of Credit. You would've had to been offered the choice of DSC, Double Points, or 10% bonus value.

In some cases I do recall AFFers calling up Qantas and asking for their existing standard travel credit to be converted to a TravelPass with a bonus, however this wasn't always allowed (and sometimes only a regular TravelPass w/o bonus was issued).

In my case, I got mine because my flight was cancelled by Qantas and I proactively called up and asked for a TravelPass with DSC instead of a refund.

The email I got confirming the TravelPass contained this information.
