so after my first FHR booking.. any issues if I book another room for the same dates for some friends at the same hotel?

I have some recollection of seeing that you can book up to three rooms. My guess is you could expect to get all benefits apart from the $100 hotel credit. But I'm just guessing.

Yep that's right, you can book up to three rooms (FHR) per card, but my interpretation of the T&Cs is that you will get the same FHR benefits up to three rooms - what do you guys think?

"Benefits and additional Fine Hotels + Resorts promotions are only applied at checkout and expire at checkout. Limit one benefit package per room, per stay. Three room limit per Card Member, per stay; back-to-back stays within a 24-hour period at the same property considered one stay."

Coincidentally, I booked three rooms at the Shangri-La Sydney earlier this year on the same booking, and all received the $100USD credit - quite a nice touch!

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, however I've noticed that you can't seem to add in your hotel loyalty program membership number to any FHR and THC booking?

I could just be missing it if the layout has changed when booking but this wasn't the case when travel credits weren't available for us to use when booking a THC or FHR stay.

Does anyone know if Amex have removed this from THC and FHR bookings?

Hyatt used can, but not recently (booked Nov 2021). Just call the hotel ahead or email them or let them know when check-in.

I noticed this too. It's annoying. My solution has been to forward a copy of the confirmation email to [email protected] and ask them to add my loyalty number. They then do the legwork by contacting the hotel and getting it done.

I'd encourage you to do the same. When they see this is what their staff are spending time on, they might fix the booking website. It's also painless for us to send an email.

I made an FHR booking with the Sofitel at Darling Harbour. I contacted them about attaching my Accor ALL number to the booking but the hotel reps emailed me back saying that FHR bookings are ineliglble for points/benefits.

Is there a published FHR terms and conditions somewhere that addresses this specifically? Or has this always been at the discretion of the particular hotels?

Did you pre-pay or select pay at hotel?

Prepaid, partly using travel credits.

There are some reports here and on Flyertalk about prepaying FHR/THC stays reducing the likelihood of status recognition/nights.

Ultimately we don't know how Amex reserves these rooms, but if they're using an OTA booking channel, Accor is correct as it's against the ALL T&C.

To make sure of earning Status and Reward points and benefits of their status, the member must:
Reserve his stays directly via:
Traditional travel agencies whose booking systems are automatically connected to the Accor booking office, regardless of the payment method (excluding online agencies such as Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expédia , CTrip, Agoda.com, lastminute.com, etc.).

It seems more likely the booking will be recognised as coming from a "traditional travel agency" (i.e. booked via GDS) if you book via Platinum Travel Services or select Pay at Hotel.

That makes sense and definitely something to consider. Looks like the best general rule is to use travel credits for flights and book direct for hotels (or pay at hotel FHR bookings).

Edit: a lot of online blogs/guides seem to indicate that loyalty status is honoured for all FHR bookings but it looks like this isn't an Amex stipulation.

I've prepaid and had Marriott honour benefits. I reached out via email to the Amex plat travel team asking them to add my loyalty number. Can I suggest you give that a whirl? Nothing to lose.

I have tried that avenue and got a reponse to the effect of "your membership has been sent via the supplier to the hotel it is then up to the hotel to accept the membership number."

The Hilton in Sydney CBD did honour loyalty benefits when I booked via Amex THC a couple of months ago and emailed the Hilton advising, so I guess it does depend on hotel.

For another data point I had a travel credits prepaid booking again via Amex FHR with the Shangri-La in Sydney at the end of August. Wrote to the hotel and they attached the loyalty number to my booking.
