for a truly great hotel visit. turn your iphone flash into a black light! reveal all those nasties...

1. stick a small piece of sticky tape on the flash
2. find a blue marker and colour in the tape
3. stick another piece of tape over the blue one
4. colour in tape with a purple marker.
5. camera on, flash on, good times!

Why not just use fluorescent condoms?

Cleanliness? I'm more worried about my own flora attacking me.

In most cities, especially sydney, I always keep the toothbrush head in one of those protector things. coughroaches crawl everywhere. Of course, the protector thingys can be a bit fiddly, dropped one into the toilet a few months ago. clean toilet, soaked the protector in hospital strength sanitiser. But I'm just not prepared to use it.

Good Grief! I should hope not, Jerry. :)

I wouldn't say I'm a clean freak, but there is no way I'll leave a toothbrush sitting atop a vanity or even in a glass. My toothbrush goes back in my 'bathroom bag' (I dislike the words toilet bag) and zipped up. Without maligning housekeepers, what if they are unhappy with the tip I leave ($0.00, BTW) and spit on it? I guess they could open the bag and do the same.

Honestly, I don't even leave my toothbrush sitting out at home. Yep, you guessed it - I don't tip my housemates either ! ;)

Let's call it a 'wet pack'...

Where's your sense of adventure?

I went to Big W and bought a cheap toilet bag. The toilet bag was rubbish but it came with a full toothbrush case and a soap case. The kit cost less than the two items I wanted on their own. I noticed Aldi toothbrushes also come with the brush head cases so I have a few of those as standby.

Toilets are one of the cleaner areas of the bathroom!

Brightly coloured case straps are useful in a number of ways.
1: Helps you pick out your luggage easily on the conveyor.
2: Helps preclude someone else picking up your luggage by accident or design.
3: Helps locate your luggage easily when in a sea of other cases etc.
4: May help keep everything together if the integrity of your case is impinged in some way.

Also, never buy black cases - a huge percentage of the world's travellers have black cases!!

Our flight from New York to Toronto was cancelled due to bad weather, as were all other flights.
Had to retrieve our luggage. The very disinclined girl in the luggage bay took a description of our
cases and then informed us that it could be 2-3 hours before our luggage was located. Within
10 minutes, we had our cases and were on our way. I believe the prompt service was probably
due to the bright orange straps which would have been easily picked out in the sea of luggage.

Totally agree. We have had mustard yellow, red, navy and I have just bought two purple cases for this trip. And just so they stand out from the rest of the purple cases I have some hot pink ribbon tied to the handles. ;)

I really don't understand this. I have always had black or dark grey luggage and I have never had any difficulty identifying it by the tags.
The only time I did have some confusion was when another PAX had an identical combination of QF and VA Platinum tags on an identical case.

"They" say black bags are stolen more than coloured bags, now this could be because there are more black bags than coloured :)

And a roll of duct tape.

But not in your carry-on. The one and only time that Mrs 2905 took some duct tape with her, it was confiscated at security.

As for power boards, I usually pack two; his and hers. And an extension lead, since the hotel room power points aren't always where you'd like them to be.

As the owner of a black bag I can assure you I'm also guilty of the carousel "lucky dip". I see it coming then watch a couple of others pick it up and inspect it before it gets to me. I also spot other luggage I think is mine but on closer inspection find that it's not. I have various ribbons and tags but they always seem to be out of view. I'd get something else but it's a good bag and I'm too much of cheapskate to spend money on something I don't desperately need.
