I have an Amex card that allows me to purchase travel insurance yearly - valid for up to 90 days World wide, starting at approx $400.

That is for their base rate, it goes up from there.

Very handy for me - I travel nearly 90% of the year, and takes the hassle of needing to renew every time I fly.

Offer expires: 18 Mar 2025

- Earn up to 100,000 bonus Qantas Points*
- Enjoy an annual $450 Qantas travel credit
- Don't forget the two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations and two visits to the Amex Centurion Lounges in Melbourne and Sydney.

I am sure that fits your travel needs but how does the yearly policy offered by Amex card at $400 a year compare to Travel Insurance Direct or Columbus Direct that come in well under that price.

Do your trips exceed 38 days in length every time you fly? I am covered for a whole with Travel Insurance Direct yearly policy as long as the trip is not greater than 38 days at a time.

If anyone is interested I have an Easter promotion code for 10% off from Travel Insurance Direct. I do not think it is targetted and I do not know how long it lasts. It brings the yearly policy down from $354 to $318.60 with $100 excess which can be reduced to $0 for an additional $25. Amex is also accepted.

I am not going to post the code here but can send PM if requested. I hope this is allowed....

The code is reusable; my wife and I both received it having being previous TID customers.

I have checked out similar insurance and they were higher than that, which is why I stayed with Amex.

As you said, for me it makes sense to have a year long policy, that allows this length of time away.

However, should you only be travelling for shorter times and less often, it may be overkill. :)

Many thanks JohnK for this code. I have used it for an upcoming three week trip to BKK........now if that civil unrest will just quieten down!
