Now while this Columbus Asian policy does not provide as much cover as the QBE, there's sufficient to cover the needs of most people.

$79.00 or $63.20 with the AFF discount is nothing to be sneezed at.

There maybe a cheaper insurance than this, one needs to shop around, the question is that you need to be satisfied with the product and service.

This is covered quite well by this post from serfty IMHO.

Cheap insurance does not necessarily mean bad.

Someone relying on any insurance policy, whether it be a annual policy, Insurance included by use of a CC or some other product needs to fully understand the "Product Disclosure Statement" or PDS that must be provided for every policy.

This is true for any aspect of a policy, including "activation", insured events, exclusions and cover levels.

This is rather better discussed here:Personally, I have do not have any reliance on CC based policies (although the Amex Platinum Charge card seems reasonable) and use an annual policy costing around $300.
I see travel insurance as no different to any other types of insurance or any other purchase of anything. We need to look at what we are paying versus the value it offers and how appropriate it is to an individuals situation.

Personally, I use the insurance from the AMEX Platinum Charge Card as from where I'm sitting it appears to be the most suitable foe me/us. If someone shows there is something more appropriate then I will look at that and change if it is the right way to go.

I have made a claim on a Travel Insurance Direct policy and had no issues at all. I have been with them for a number of years until I found cheaper annual travel insurance policy last month.

There are notable differences between a cheap comprehensive travel insurance policy and compilmentary travel insurance provided by some credit cards.

Personally I could not rely on credit card complimentary travel insurance.

Everyone has their own opinion on travel Insurance, but I am confident that many people may have learn t from this discussion and will take appropriate steps to buy the correct policy that suits their need and will not be disadvantaged if they need to make a claim.
