Travel Pass Expiry Date Extended

Had some travel passes with DSC issued last year (can't remember exactly when) which were due to expire end of this year. Just received an email from QF to say they have extended the expiry date until 31/12/2023. Hopefully the DSC will stick with the change.

Little bit of extra positivity for me as I was not thinking I would be using them this year.

Same here. Is it assuming that the 2 SC will also carry through? So essentially it will be able to use in 2024 provided booked by 31/12/23?
The email does say "All other Terms and Conditions apply" so yes, I woul very much hope the DSC do too. I would assumeso.

(so yes, I had all of my remaining TP's done also).

this is a very good thing from QF and genuinely gives more flexibility. Many missteps, but this is appreciated.

I would say 99% chance you're good for DSCs, but technically the TravelPass T&Cs state this

It mentions exact dates instead of "the expiry date", so in theory "All other Terms and Conditions apply" could mean that this clause is still enforced? Maybe?

But highly unlikely.

I'll need to double check, but ISTR that my pass was good for travel until Dec 2022. If that is the case then 2024 may be out of range.

I've checked the conditions of my original travel pass and it states:
Your TravelPass is valid until the expiry date shown.
The email I received that confirmed I'd opted for double status credits states:
A new eligible flight booking is made before the expiry date shown on the Qantas TravelPass
Neither say when the travel must be completed.

However, the email i received yesterday regarding the expiry date extension states:
Your TravelPass is valid until the expiry date shown (book and complete travel before the expiry date).

It seems that the travelpass may not be able to be used for travel in 2024.

It seems that the travelpass may not be able to be used for travel in 2024.

Hmmm, I wondered about that too. However, the TravelPass is just a payment method, like a credit card. I'm wondering if the system will check the expiry date against the travel dates.

Will have to test around mid January next year.

I somehow doubt that the system will check travel dates. However it may be difficult to claim double status credits for 2024 travel if they don’t post automatically.

I got 4 emails yesterday from QF for mum, dad, brother and me. I am the only one with travel as the others have not travelled for a long time. Is that a known glitch? I'm going to take cash.

I also have a JQ travel pass amd they've been sending emails that is going to be extended indefinitely.

My wife also has a VA Travel bank but when I go into her account there is $0 value. Why keep sending email?

...
Does it mean the DSC on travel pass applies too for travel in 2024 if we don’t register for the double points?
what does the brains trust think?

I couldn't say for sure. However, I am planning to not register for the double points just in case. My last remaining DSC travel pass will be used on a booking to be made soon for travel sometime post February 2024, and I am banking on the DSC coming through.

The last travel pass I used on a booking made in July for a round trip in September. DSC did post a couple of weeks after the return flight so I think they will still honour the orginal Ts&Cs of the travel pass.

Hi @Isolar, just checking if you did make the booking? And if the DSC has credited?

Thanks.

Hi @LinaLee, yes I did make the booking before expiry at the end of last year. It is for mid-March though - so a few weeks before I find out if the DSC will still get applied automatically. If not, I guess it will be an email or two to chase up (or phone call - though my wait times as Platinum have been horrendous lately).

I'll report outcome back here once the trip has completed.

I too booked a trip with the last bits of balance of the TP fir next years qualification run in Oct. So I really hope it will work 🤞🏼

Just remember that the TP DSC can take weeks for a run - not like the normal crediting within a day or two. I usrd all mine before Dec 31 so no kniwledge about 2024 crediting, but don't get disheartened if there's nothing within a week or so.

Yes, my second last TP taken in September took about two weeks for the DSC to come through.

Hopefully they will post by early April for the mid-March trip using my last TP.

Hi @LinaLee - as promised, here is an update on the results of my final TP.

Booking made November 2023 for 6 sector trip over several days in mid-March. Last sector completed on 19 March and regular SCs posted same day.

Checked this morning and bonus DSCs posted for all segments as one transaction overnight (so dated 31/3/2023).

So, a little bit quicker than my previous trip which took 17 days to come through.

Thanks so much for letting me know. A good data point. So, hoping very promising they post too for mine later in Oct 🤞🏻
