Travel Radio AM/FM

Wish to buy radio that I could use at home as well as use on trips. I understand some radios have internet connectivity. Recommendations sought. Would like to buy today (in Sydney) so suggestion as to where to buy also appreciated.

If you have a smartphone or tablet you might want to check some of the apps out. I use TuneIn Radio and can get just about any radio station I could think of.

I just picked up a nice Sony DAB/FM combo at the WOW clearance - XDR-S56DBP : DAB+ Radios : Radios : Sony Australia, otherwise I recommend the Sangean World Band receivers (and dont forget different countries have different channel schema so it needs to be a world radio for that)

Good one. I downloaded that app. The radio is more for convenience. Works without internet access.

Depends where you're going and whether DAB is of any use.

In reading this link, it seems AM stations we have known broadcast same programs on DAB/DAB+. So, in effect we can listen in to same programs in better sound quality.

I'm leaning to the Sony you recommended. DJs sell for $84.15 and i'll try and get price match at $79.00.

The Sony is Dab and DAB+ which covers all known variants. I certainly would not go for a AM radio now, while content is rebroadcast on DAB, you also get additional content, so when sport is on you can listen to that when normally PM or another program has taken over the local broadcaster.

I have only had the Sony for a few days, I also have a Pure DAB clock radio as well and doing some testing with the signals in Darwin shows the Sony to have a better receiver.

Thank you all. I purchased the Sony and preset stations, DAB/DAB+ versions of AM 630, 873, 954, which my dad likes and gave it to him. Es ist fantastisch.

Very light in weight, crystal clear sound, but batteries seem to drain quickly, I feel. So connected adapter. I'd buy another one for self but not rushing rightaway. Thanks for recommendation.
