Hey.

I am a first time poster here, just looking for some advice, hints, tips or suggestions on my travel plans

Myself and my girlfriend are planning to travel to Australia around April/May this year and are looking to gain as much useful information as possible.

Basically, we are open to any suggestions and advice, must see's, must do's... but also, as a first time traveller... what would, in your opinion, be areasonable amount of funds to undertake a 2 month trip (I'm aware that is quite a personal issue - as everyone spends their money differently) but I was just hoping for some ideas... as frankly I'm not sure.

We are more than willing to do some seasonal work whilst there, so any advice on that would be much appreciated.

You have visited to Australia can u suggest me.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

It's a broad brief you've posed... are you interested in cities, wilderness or beaches? How do you plan on travelling around Australia?

April / May can be mild in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, but will be cool in Melbourne and Hobart. It will still be mild in Brisbane, and hot in Cairns and Darwin. Regardless of how you plan to get around the country, Australia is a huge place, and even getting around by air alone is time-consuming. Driving is a great, if time-consuming, way to travel around the country. Train is often more expensive than air.

Costs in Australia are relatively high, mainly due to the high Australian dollar. Accommodation costs in hotels are similar to those in the US and Europe, though backpacker hostels are still relatively cheap. I'd suggest looking at the Lonely Planet website forum to get an idea of various cost bases. I might be showing my age, but I'd suggest that $AUD 50 per day is the absolute minimum: a hostel dorm bed and two cheap meals. This would not include travel costs, and there would be parts of Australia that would not be this cheap. I'm not sure what other people on this forum think about this minimum.

WorkAbout Australia - Searching Vacancies is a bit of a guide & there are penty of other sites that may suit your skills better (google is your friend). Where are you visiting from? As HardieBoys has indicated, budget estimates are difficult-are you a drinker/smoker etc. If backpacking there are some pretty well worn tracks around parts of Aust & again google will help. I guess your amount of savings will dictate what % of your trip will be leisure time. April/May is a pretty good time to travel-I think Easter Sunday is April 8th in 2012 and things may be dearer around that week.
