Travelling to India - Currency questions?

We were in India earlier this year. Plenty of ATMs at the airport. Used the citi (now NAB) card for fee-free withdrawals.

Travelled around mumbai and udaipur, just used ATMs if we needed them. (some ATMs looked worse for wear… couldn’t believe they were still functioning, but they did and we got cash with no hassle)

I just checked the PDS on my NAB debit card, and it seems they now charge ATM and exchange fees? I'm heading over to india next weekend so keen to get the lowdown on this!

Perhaps you hold a NAB different card to the one Mel Traveller was referring to.-I don't think that one (ex-Citi) has changed?

Yes I transferred from the citi one as well. I can’t find any doco that says the nab visa debit card is atm fee fee. I wanted to confirm prior to my travel next weekend. Thanks

There’s a ‘grandfather’ clause. It’s well documented… somewhere!

We just used ex-Citi extensively overseas and didn’t get any extra NAB fees (although a couple of local fees).

Thanks - I found this link nab.com.au/cititransaction - but am not sure if they have made updates since. I did receive an email saying they were increasing fees for overseas transaction on visa debit cards... but it was unclear if it was overridden by the grandfathered account
