Sunday morning we went whale watching, bus collected us at 8:30.
Short 10 minute drive to the beach and a dinghy with wheels took us out to the boat.
On board we had the captain, 2 young female deckhands
Leaving the safety of the beach, with in 20 minutes seen our first mum and calf, we stayed with them for 20 minutes.
You had a choice of standing up the front in full sun, or under cover at the stern or up with the captain on the fly bridge.
I sat at the stern and it ended up becoming the triage for the sick, about 30 on board and 8 (including one embarrassed crew member) people were tossing their cookies.
Funnily enough few takers for morning tea, i was able to have two pieces of cake.
Headed out to ten mile reef, where 10+ whales had been seen the day before, on the way out we saw two pods of dolphins and a few sea snakes making out.
Once out at ten mile reef, there was nothing, so the captain headed back to shore and cut the trip 30 minutes short, due to the sick and them using all the toilet water up.
Overall disappointed in seeing few whales but the captain said that killer whales had been seen up the coast the previous day which would explain the whales giving this area the miss.
