Tripit, Tripcase, Kayak..... which itinerary app?

I've been searching, and don't see anything recent on this... I'm looking for an app that tracks all my bookings for a trip, and alerts me to aircraft/schedule changes, and other good features. I see tripcase and kayak are somewhat similar (I think?), but what does everyone else use? Tripcase has a really poor website that I can't really see the detail of what alerts they send, so I am struggling to compare. I liked the look of these two because they are free, and Tripit is just so expensive with the exchange rate these days. I also noticed Kayak actually gives a lot more detail (imports/scans/uses my data) than Tripcase.

I don't need this for weekend trips necessarily, but the next planned trip (Scott Morrison willing) is 31 days, with 11 flight sectors, 3 car rentals, 6 hotels, and a cruise.

What are you all using? Free or Paid?

I use the paid version of TripIt. Since I travel (well pre-Covid at least) for work, I claimed the cost as a tax deduction.

If Kayak is giving you the alerts for free, then it would seem the way to go.

Google Travel does trips too, but I don't believe it does flight monitoring.

I use Tripit and don't pay for it but currently they have upgraded me to Pro (I suspect because of Covid) because I was getting a lot of alerts last week when my flight was delayed. I really like Tripit

I too use Tripit Pro - it is very good.

(but use in conjunction with other resources as a delayed alert at MIA some years ago would have likely had me miss a flight.)

Same here, I've used TripIt Pro for some years. Besides the travel alerts etc, it provides a quick historical reference for work travel as well as when I have to provide a list of countries I've been to. The travel alerts for flights usually arrive before the ones from the airlines.

Another TripIt user. I also don't totally rely on the alerts about flight delays as I have had a few issues with it in the past.

Thanks everyone for the advice and experiences. I wish Kayak and Tripcase better published what alerts they send. I never thought about claiming the TripitPro cost back though..... might push me in that direction.

TripIt used to have an discount about once a year. I think around black Friday sale time. Last 18 months or so I've just got free extensions due to Covid.

I use a combination of apps:

TripIt Pro to manage upcoming itineraries (flights, accommodation, car rental, etc.), get notified of changes and cancellations, and see all activities in my calendar
CheckMyTrip (by Amadeus) to confirm that my reservations have been ticketed
Flightradar24 in the hours before travel to confirm my inbound aircraft is on time

I came across Flighty recently, which has a very simple Where's my plane? section (which is more intuitive than the manual guessing game using Flightradar24). It breaks down flight times into pushback, taxiing, takeoff, landing, gate arrival. Although it seems good for managing travel on the day, it's very expensive for what you get. Has anyone used it?

I've used TripCase for years. I switched to it after I got sick of Kayak crashing all the time. TripCase works pretty well but doesn't seem to be getting much active development. It looks nice on the phone and it delivers timely alerts about flight delays. The biggest hassle is that it often can't interpret email confirmations of hotel bookings that I forward to it, so I have to enter the details manually. When I'm travelling to visit rellies or friends, I can share an individual trip with them so they get the arrival flight details, etc. I can also share all trip details automatically with my wife.

I've also tried Google Travel, but that's just annoying because it picks up all your travel details from your gmail account, but doesn't successfully combine all the pieces into a single trip and you can't combine them manually. You end up with lots of separate trips instead of one trip with many pieces.

I use both. TripIt for years to capture historical stuff but also good for collating flights, hotels, trains, cars etc for each trip. The current freebie Pro access is useful and I’ll ponder retaining that.

Tripcase is free and works well with VA and Sabre bookings. As mentioned above, it can alert you to delays before the airline app or airport/lounge signs catch up! For a while, it wasn‘t great with QF and Amadeus bookings but it’s improving. It does have some inbuilt seat view functionality of your flights but accuracy varies wildly. ExpertFlyer (and “Seat alert” app) is much better for seeing what’s really free, taken and blocked.

For Corp clients of CWT, the myCWT app is very good.

I have used both TripIt (paid and free), Kayak (all free), WorldMate (paid) and find value in them all yet subtle differences too... I now use Kayak exclusively (and very happily so).
