Double Tree are taking over the management of the Tropicana from 1/1/13.

The Tropicana Las Vegas has signed a strategic franchise agreement with DoubleTree by Hilton. Beginning in January the 1,600-room hotel will be rebranded as the Tropicana Las Vegas – a DoubleTree by Hilton.
The hotel recently completed a US$200 million renovation featuring four restaurants, a spa, a nightclub and beach club, an entertainment complex, and a state-of-the-art conference center and exhibition hall.

Good news for those that are not a fan of the Hilton Vacation Club and no doubt the refurb will look a lot better than how it was!

The reno's were substantial, I last stayed pre reno when it was supposed to be demolished, last time I was there recently but not staying the foyer of the hotel seemed nice and new - it would be nice to be able to earn some points in Vegas!
