Does anyone know if it is possible to successfully claim through the TRS where a receipt is issued in the name of person 1, but a credit card belong to person 2 is used to make an online purchase?

My wife is purchasing an iPhone for me, but doesn't have her additional card with her in Australia (so I was hoping to use my credit card to pay online - which is the main card for the account her additional card - but have the invoice issued in her name).

Any advice much appreciated!

Can your wife not add her additional card to Apple / Google pay on her phone, and then pay with that? But in answer to your Q, I don't think TRS care how it is paid for as long as the Tax invoice for purchases over $1K has the name of the person claiming

  • be prepared to take all your goods on board as carry-on luggage if directed
  • spend at least AUD 300, (including Goods and Services Tax (GST), in total from a supplier with the same Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • buy the goods within 60 days of departure
  • get a valid paper tax invoice in English with:
    • your name (and only your name) as it appears in your passport if the invoice is $1,000 or more
    • a description of the goods that allows us to match the goods to the invoice
    • the retailer's name, address and ABN (ACNs and ARNs not accepted)
    • the amount of GST or WET paid (or total price including GST)
    • the date of purchase

Correct information.

TRS is only interested in a valid tax invoice, which for over $1,000-00 must include a residential address.

It's fine. Main thing is Person 1 needs to be the person claiming.
