Try your luck with the Mystery Bonus

50% for me, 75% for my partner - we both shared and bought the same miles in the last 12 months - there doesn't seem to be much logic to how the bonuses are awarded!

Received a follow up email overnight stating my 100% in the header! Anyone else get this?

I did, but when you open the email it repeats the previous splash header which says "up to 100%". Unsure if you can take US DM to task about that.

also further up thread someone suggested using the account with 100% to top up that account plus gift to another. Can anyone confirm if that has worked?

Why not? Buying miles for someone else's account is gifting, which is covered in the promo. The bonus miles cap is counted against the recipient of the miles, not the buyer (unless, of course, the buyer is also the recipient).

there doesn't seem to be much logic to how the bonuses are awarded!

Well, that's randomness for you! Just like a slot machine.

Lucky it wasn't like one of those promos where the random bonus was rolled per transaction (like a slot machine). For this promo, all you need is someone who has a 100% bonus eligibility.

Logged on two different machines and had two different % allocations ... first was 75 and second was 50 :shock:

Will we able to use USDM on OW after the 31st of March? Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere..

No word yet. I expect this wont happen for a year.

Thanks for the response. So what good will these bought miles be after the 31st of March then? Will only allow us to book certain *A airlines that are USDM 'affiliates'?

Since USair is to become part of *O in about 4 weeks anbd you can already redeem on AA flights, I suspect that it will be less than a yea.

I would be surprised if not available by June.

Out of interest, when were MH and QR able to book OW awards, understanding that they had a longer lead in to the alliance.

EDIT: found this on the US airways website:

Can I redeem Dividend Miles for travel on oneworld carriers?
US Airways and oneworld partner airlines are working to have the functionality in place for Dividend Miles members to redeem miles for travel upon their entry into the alliance, scheduled for March 31, 2014. Redemption, however, may not be available on that date.

Sounds good... Yeah pity the number of *A partners are diminishing so quick, still think using say SAA and maybe TAP or something i might still be able to do a OZ-US-EUR-OZ return for 110,000 if the current chart sticks around for a bit, but not sure what the award chart prices and rules will look like after 31 March, but if the OW options are going to be coming fairly quick that will stop it being a year with limited options...

A press release on the AA website said something that redemptions wouldn't be available from Day 1, but it would be "shortly afterwards".

Of course, no idea if this means you can redeem oneworld using US DM currency directly with US DM rules, or it would be separate rules or a sweep to AA.

IIRC for MH and QR, the ability to redeem was pretty much from the start.

Hey mate, so you mean SYD-LAX-JFK-CDG-SYD for 110k miles right? is there any restriction on routes etc?

Not sure why you think this second is an option. While there is a definite lack of clarity one thing they have said is that the programs would continue as separate programs for some time. If there was to be sweep to AA there would be no need for this to happen hence I just cant see this as being on their plans. I may of course be wrong but then the guidance they have given (limited though it is) would also be wrong.

Just my (probably wrong) thoughts on this. It we can see the route and availablity on aa.com then I think we will be able to book with USDM, under their rules and rates, and there is an internal arrangement between USDM and AAdvantage.

Like I said, probably wrong.

Just 'tried my luck' clicking on the following link however it doesn't show me any US DM bonus but instead takes me to the AA buying miles page interfaced on the US Air website & of course there's no AA bonus this month.

Is it still possible to buy US DM through 'their' website or Points.com?

US Airways | Buy, share or gift miles

It took me to the USDM page. Are you logged in to you AA ac? Maybe it can see that and is defaulting there.

Definitely taking me to USDM as well. I bought points last night in two accounts with the 100% bonus and all went through fine.

2 accounts both received 75% offers , as we get close to the March 26 deadline what would the chances be of these offers going up to entice us to buy ? .
Has any ones offers gone up already ? .
