Hi there, Failry new here, but love the discussion - very informative. I need some advice as how best to tackle this.

I recently had to go back to the UK for the weekend - my football team got to Wembley - so I had to go!!!

I booked through travel.com.au on Codeshare AA/IB - and went MEL-LAX-LHR-LAX-MEL. The flights were actually QF93 (AA7349) /AA136 (IB4237) /BA283 (IB4667) /QF94 (AA7356).

I got credited for points and SCs for the IB legs, but QF/AA have refused to credit their legs.

I bought these flights as MEL-LHR return on one ticket, not as seperate legs. Why should the classes be different? On my QF94 boarding pass I have a Class Y ticket (which I have now sent to QF to verify). There was no class on my QF93 boarding pass. When I booked through the website, I do not recall any way of telling what class these were booked through, and the E-ticket is equally non-helpful.

Can anyone give me some advice as how to go about getting the points & SCs, in the correct manner!

I need 350SCs for Gold and the 90SCs from this would make a 1 day status run quite a bit easier to achieve Gold.

Thanks

Beefy

You need to know what the booking class is for each of the flight segments.

With AA some earn and some don't with QFF. e.g. Q and O classes on AA flights number are not eligible for earning.

If you have you Qantas or Amadeus booking reference, you may be able to retrieve these classes by plugging them along with your surname into here (if it's not too late):

https://eitr.amadeusasia.com/index.aspx

Were you actually booked on the codeshare numbers rather than the operating flight number?

I booked the flights as AA/IB. I dont have any reference for Amadeus sorry - in fact I only had a confirmation email from travel.com.au as my ticket.

Why would my boarding pass for the QF94 (AA7356) say Class Y when it apparently isn't?

Sorry I am lacking info, but I can only go on what I have to hand.

Thanks for your help though.

In the email is there anything that looks like an Amadeus reference - 6 characters letters and numbers generally.

I am intrigued that the BP says Y rather than Economy. Just had a look at mine for Qf2 LHR-SYD and it only says Business not D (the booking class).

Y Generally is the accepted Short Hand for Economy Class.

I know some airlines will actually put the fare bucket in that section, while others will put Y no matter what.

The Y Fare bracket itself is generally the most expensive economy ticket out there, so chances are you have hit an ineligible fare bucket

Qantas BP's typically do not show the actual fare bucket/booking class.

They often just show: "First", "Business", "Premium" and "Economy".

OP, can you call Qantas and ask for the Amadeus reference (and/or the fare bucket codes for each segment)?

OK I have searched through some emails and come up with this:

Does this help at all? I also found an AA ref of PARIEF.

Sorry about the font!!!

Thanks, I tried that - no good. I will have to call them instead. But it is the PARIEF ref for that site.

Do I have any claim against Travel.com.au for not disclosing the booking class when I booked, as I specifically chose the AA/IB over United routing to earn the points.

You should at the very least be able to credit those segment to AA.

Have you tried calling AA on the 07 QLD number?
