Not sure if this is of any use as a guideline.
I received a A$200 travel voucher from QF a couple of years ago for being served food with 'mold' in them (proof of the moldy wrap was taken and sent through).
The voucher was 'open' (unnamed) so I gave to my brother to use ;)

Yes, the CSM was very helpful and made sure to put a note on my file. This was 2 days ago, so I will definitely make sure to call them today. Thank you.

Any thoughts on what I should be receiving compensation wise?

Brand new Qantas plane from spore to Sydney , few yrs ago, on the runway and moving and now engine at max thrust, suddenly it slowed down and came back to the hanger... All business class toilets some how did not work ( they tried for fe minutes to fix..) They shut down business class toilets and ask to go to economy if we wanted. I refused ( others as well) and i went straight to 1st class toilets and some how qantas staff did not object. All the way to sydney it was closed.
I complain when I landed and few days later they gave me $ 300 voucher only redeemed of flights only with 3 months expire date. Never use the voucher. Useless Qantas customer service.

1999 was travelling in J from Taipei to Hong Kong on Cathay & the entertainment system at my seat failed. Short flight, no big deal really. Then I get asked would I like to sit in the jump seat with the pilots for landing ! Needless to say I said yes. A pre 9/11 response I guess.

Few years ago on a flight CGK-SYD the aircraft was swapped from A330-300 int to an A330-300 (or 200) domestic, without IFE. On checkin they handed out a piece of paper stating that "we're going to reimburse your entertainment expenses e.g. books for up to 50$, please mail your receipt to Coward St". I mailed in ~30$ worth of receipts and few weeks later got a 50$ voucher.

The voucher is one of the older kind that is on paper, so you can't use it online and you'll have to call in. Needless to say the fee pretty much ate the value of the voucher, so that voucher was actually worth less than the paper it's printed on.

A couple of years back my A380 economy seat from HKG-SYD would not recline, in spite of the cabin crew partly disassembling (and reassembling) it in an attempt to fix it.
Not helpful for trying to catch shut-eye!
The CSM took my detalis and I was mailed a letter of apology with a $100.00 voucher to use for Inflight Duty Free shopping on my next flight.

In had a faulty entertainment unit for a 7 hour flight on a qantas booked Emirates plane. After a year of fighting for compensation or even a response in the first instance (took them 10 months to get back to me??) I negotiated a $300 voucher. I don't believe this was sufficient given the average customer service and experience.

NRT-SYD J an old non-refurbished 747 (skybed Mk1).
IFE not working. Also reading light could not be turned off (overnight). Cabin crew could not fix.
After a bleary eyed complaint to CSM at at 03:00am, we received an inflight shop bag containg bottles of J; champagne, a red & a white, to take home.

I had an IFE system not work from Australia to Honolulu and when we asked one of the crew about it we were more or less told "there are quite a few that aren't working and there's nothing we can do about it!" and then walked off!" And the service on that flight matched the IFE system unfortunately :( No we didn't make a complaint when we got back to Australia because we were told that anyone that makes a complaint certainly isn't made that welcome when they board Qantas again.

Similar thing happened to me. Was the year of the massive hail storm in Sydney (1999 I think). I had flown to Hong Kong for a few days then back to Bangkok to pick up the QF1 flight to London. I was using all my points to fly first class and get what was then the first beds in First as I recall.

Imagine my horror when boarding the plane it was just the old seats in First. Apparently, quite a few QF planes were damaged in the hail storm, so we got an "old" 747 on QF1 that night.

To make up for my disappointment, the FSD arranged for me to sit in the coughpit for the approach and landing into Heathrow airport. It was one of the most memorable highlights of my travelling (along with a flight on Concorde). I also got a bottle of very nice (and expensive) champagne from the FSD.

No-one (other than flight crew) get to sit in the coughpit these days, so that is a one off I will never forget.

first post on the forum. not up to speed with all the lingos

few years back i was travelling christchurch to sydney and the christchurch departure was significantly delayed. had a connecting flight onto perth with a scheduled 3h layover... this was nearly entirely consumed in depart delay. also was travelling with an 18mo old nephew.

onboard, the qantas staff were very helpful and came to us directly assuring theyd help us to make our connection... however when we landed the ground staff were infinitely less helpful and really actively quite disinterested... most surprising. by the time we tracked down and explained to someone dressed in red it was too late and we just missed the connection. qantas gave us a hotel room and transfers and dinner etc etc so that was all good. wrote a polite letter to customer care about ground staff help when i got home and they sent a personalised reply, with a $200 travel voucher and two hoyts movie tickets "for my nephew". they were both adult tickets and who takes an 18mo old kid to the movies anyway so that was strange but still useful.

Back in 2007 when returning from Vienna - KUL - SYD J with Austrian Airlines, the audio didn't work in my seat's IFE. They supposedly tried to fix it while stopped in KUL but weren't able to. The FSO had given me a EUR35 voucher to use on in flight duty free which I used for a gift for Rumpole's "She who must be obeyed". The lack of audio didn't worry me as I slept for quite a bit of the return journey, having seen and listened to all that remotely interested me on the forward trip a week earlier.

I just had a non-functioning IFE in J on Cathay, overnight Sydney to HK. It was a known problem. The engineer was checking it out before I even sat down, and the crew told me it usually didn't function in that seat.
Was given a $US100 voucher, which I used onboard for some scotch. No dice when I tried to purchase something a bit more than $100. But better value than the IFE in my opinion, for an overnight flight and when I had my own headphones and iPad entertainment anyway.
