‘Playing Nice’
James Norton as father who finds his child was accidentally switched in hospital. When the other family shows up it.is.frightening!
Highly recommend
As a bonus - it was filmed at Megavassie/Penzance with all the stunning Cornish scenery
With Melbourne's 38° rain, thunder and lightning yesterday afternoon, binged "Playing Nice" @MARTINE , thanks for the recommendation 🎬

Finished Dexter Original Sin, wrapped up nicely even if I did guess the killer in episode 2. Hope it gets a second season.

Started watching "Paradise" on Disney+ yesterday sort of a less scifi more mystery version of Silo. Episode 1 was a bit slow, but picking up from episode 4. I do enjoy watching Julianne Nicholson.

Amusing review of Section 31.

“Star Trek: Section 31 has accomplished the impossible. It is the worst thing Star Trek has ever produced and also one of the worst things to appear on any screen, anywhere. Is it possible for a movie to be evil? This one is, and if Paramount has any sense of shame or decency, it will now shutter the entire company and auction off its assets to the lowest bidder. “
I thought it was a tv show. I watched 'some' of it the weekend it came out and didn't much like any of the characters, but thought it might get better. When I realised it's a movie I didn't bother watching the rest of it. Such a shame, Michelle Yeoh is better than that.

...

I watched Apple Cider Vinegar (Netflix) this weekend, it's really very good! It's about Belle Gibson, the Australian girl who lied about having brain cancer and healing herself through clean eating. Gawd I hate her so much!

I think 60 minutes does an expose tonight. That old Tara Brown interview is mint and a journalism masterclass. She could not even give her age.

Thinking of chucking Netflix. There is so much that is poorly produced and "shallow" scripted. Little more than American soaps.
Even the British stuff is mediocre. I hate all the stuff aimed at 20/30 yr olds.
Interested in older suggestions of well produced series.

Haven't watched the movie, but have noted it's been widely panned. So disappointing - Section 31 lore within Star Trek has so much more potential than this. :(

White Lotus 3 drops tomorrow on Binge👏🏻👏🏻
This is one show I get to watch all on my own as MrP loathes it! 😂

Paradise is improving with each episode. We are still working our way through Blacklist! We are slow uptakers. Hope we live long enough to see it all. 😂

Have finished watching Black Doves again with subtitles. We missed so much funny dialogue the first time round.

There seems to have been a lot of great releases recently.

Ah I didn't realise that was the one about her. It's been panned by the critics. Must see it then.

We are off to Japan in a few weeks and have been trying to watch Shogun but it's a bit hard work. Maybe I'll download to watch on the daytime flight over. 😂

I really enjoyed Black Doves. As you say, some great dialogue, but also an enjoyable story in general. It's almost "Guy Ritchie-like" in terms of story and dialogue. Almost.

Shogun is well worth the effort and worthy of all the critical acclaim it received. Quite possibly a career-defining performance from Anna Sawai.

Shogun is great but demands ones complete attention as need to to read subtitles whereas I am usually multi taking when watching TV in English.

Whit Lotus season 1 was good, I lost interest half way through season 2 and didn't bother to finish. Critics already complaining season 3 is more of the same, not enough new ideas.

Finding out who had the tablet on Paradise episode 5 was unexpected we were meant to believe that Cal's Dad's dementia meant he'd confused Presley with Robinson

Ditto.... for Netflix

We've been getting good value out of SBS Now and iView, and also Youtube for the latest Michel Portillo Long Weekend series. Michael Portillo's Long Weekends Season 1

The Turkish Detective - the backstory tended to annoy me but Haluk Bilginer (apparently was a regular in Eastenders) is fabulous and the scenery and cats are great too. Lot of the filming in Istanbul.
I have been watching Turkish Detective this 39 degree day. An enjoyable watch. What I found interesting is the actual actors. The gorgeous young female detective is not actually Turkish but her stepfather was;she lived in Turkey as a child but spent most of her youth in Australia getting a scholarship to Qld Uni. Haluk Bilginer as you say spent years in the UK as an actor (Eastenders). The British young detective is actually Mauritan-British and cannot speak Turkish! He was also in Eastenders.

Excellent views around Istanbul (especially the posh bits)!

I just loved Haluk Bilginer in this - he was so interesting to watch. The young Brit detective I found a tad annoying but overall enjoyed the series. And I loved all those cats!
