I've just given Passepartout a heart-attack :)

The engines are spooling up for the next holiday in the skies, where I'll go twice around the world in 40 days. That is, great circle mapper total flown distance of 50,116 miles / 80,636 kms vs the circumference of the earth of 24,901 miles / 40,075km :p

Fortunately, most of it is in business, on a OneWorld RTW ticket. QF, AA, QR, BA, JL, CX and UL, with side trips in whY on AZ and AI. In all, about 64 individual bookings of hotels, flight sectors, tours.

Bit of a mixed bag, this trip.

A few cultural/historical wants to be ticked off, such as Sardinia, Israel, Ajanta and Ellora caves/temple complexes in India and, of course, the ancient cities in Sri Lanka (plus some recovery in Galle :)). A few more done via whistle-stops, such as Himeji Castle in Japan and a couple of days in the south of France. Oh, the Millau Viaduct while I'm there.

The USA part is a bit of a status run; I have a good mate to visit in New York but I've been there numerous times, so not much sight-seeing beyond the Freedom Tower, Sept. 11 Museum, and the Brooklyn bridge, and a bookstore, but mainly its a good DSC earn SYD-LAX-JFK :)

England is to visit the UK Archives in London and archives in Berkshire and Birmingham, as part if my uni studies.

Five weeks I think is the longest I've ever been away on a non-work trip, so we'll see how I go. Highlight I'm expecting to be Sri Lanka, lowlights I'm expecting to be six arrivals/departures through LHR :(.

As usual, AFFers have facilitated this trip - hat tips to @Pushka @Daver6 @RB @JohnM @JessicaTam @Milboo and @Jacques Vert . Getting good tips and guidance makes planning these sorts of trips so much easier - thanks!

I was going to post yesterday where you were going to! Sounds stunning.

And 1A is still open on this TR?
I know my place :)

Ahem. Clearly you don’t! ;)

I'll bet your TA help put that all together

Yep! I planned it out one the OW RTW planning/booking tool, then gave it all to them. They found a few of the flights not scheduled for the day I wanted, so fixed those up.

... and then they cancelled and re-booked the lot because the DSC came along a few days later.:).

They were also able to talk QR and UL out of demanding payment up-front, when the ticket isn't pay-able until 30 days (or so) before first flight. One of the reasons I use the TA to book is that it remains a booking until the fare rules say it has to be paid, whereas the on-line tool requires payment up-front before anything goes into the system. Unfortunately some airlines, like QR, UL and LH tend to put messages into the GDS to the effect of 'pay in 2 days or we'll cancel the booking', which in my case would crystallise the entire fare. The TA is used to this, so can either put a request for that to be waived into the GDS, or can call the airline rep direct.

Good tip on the ticket booking. Look forward to reading more.
