Where are you staying?
Tokyo is a very large City.
Any particular interest?
How old are the juniors?

Thinking Tokyo Bay area
General sites as its first time in Japan , realize its a short stop
juniors are 9&7

Then for your best benefit Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea would be IMO your favourable options.:D

That's EXACTLY what the immi officer asked me at NRT.

I could not remember the name of my hotel for my inbound passenger card. My phone was flat & I had no internet.

After 15 minutes backwards & forwards, he simply said "You write Tokyo City" and let me go. I could have done that myself....

As to where to go, I'd go to The Railway Museum where they have a mixture of modern & hertiage trains. They have subway & Shinkansen simulators. They also had a steam train simulator but it was broken when I was there in 2011.

A day trip to Hiroshima on the Shinkansen was nice & the subway system is awesome.

There's so much more to Japan than theme parks.

Forget Disney - there is so much to see for kids which will give them a great cultural experience and is high on the cool scale. A simple walk up and down Take****a St in Harajuku will please them 100 times over. Go later on in the day when all the girls and guys from Tokyo's über cool sub cultures come out to play - and it's free. Likewise take them to the bright lights of Akihabara - the electronics and Manga capital. Don't forget to also visit Shibuya at night. Subway and JR system is relatively easy to navigate and staying in Tokyo Bay you'll have no trouble getting around.

PM me if you'd like more details.

Not sure if it's age appropriate to bring children of 9 & 7 to Harajuku? Thought that was more of a 15+ age groupies.. From observant values.

I'm slightly a train Fanbois as well.. Japan is a slight newcomer but is a delight to experience.

Most 9 year olds I know, including nephews and nieces, would love it! But alas bore them with choo choo trains and a mute mouse. :)

The kids might be impressed by going to the top of the Tokyo Sky Tree (day or night).

However, if you are around Shinjuku, there is a free to access observation deck at the top of each tower of the Tokyo Metropolitan Govt Office buildings. On a clear day you can see out to Mt Fuji.

Cheers for all your feedback, Im looking at some of the private accomodation 2bed near the Tokyo tower
any thoughts?
