Thanks, someone had told me that they were still seeing AUD900 SYD - SFO. Oh well, maybe it will come back at some time.

I'd be spending a few hundred more and flying VA if that's what I would be paying for UA.

I got wind of a QF deal this afternoon from my partner. She's a former corporate TA. Rtn flight ex MEL or SYD to LAX for $859 includes taxes. Unfortunately the deal expires tomorrow and is for travel in Feb 2014. I've put in a request for early notice on these deals and will post on AFF asap.

$1396 special ends tomorrow. Includes $680 YQ, which if removed, brings the price to $716.

I'm not seeing the usual tricks working...

Yes. One of the reasons I didn't book this mistake fare when there was a slightly cheaper option available. No urgency.

Though getting it on the right airlines is worth a few hundred bucks extra IMHO. And I'd do ~$800 return on QF in a blink.
