Has any one had a status match from United. I am a QP but would like to
start STAR rtws and need to find a convenient FFP.
Thanks for your advice.
Thanks for the info. I am WP...QF Platinum...
Can the status match be handled by UA in Sydney or must be done in the USA?
Also, is there a better STAR FF for earn/reward than UA that would be worth considering as I live in Australia? Most of my travel will be J RTW.
UA has a current status match program in operation:
United Airlines - Mileage Plus elite status match program
You can get Premier Executive (*A Gold equivalent) for 90 days.
Very handy to know,
What is the program like?
I found the US devalues it's premium products. For example if you are in the military (pursueing avtive duty) you are automatically upgraded to F on AA. Quite ridiculous to let patriotism devalue your product.
The lounges are nothing to write home about except a select few.

Spruce, for me it is a quick way to get *A Gold unless Branson inks the docs. The only US lounge I have used is the AA Lax F lounges, which the QF F lounge blow away. However the AA Lounge in Denver treated a QF WP with a lot of care and respect. There was nothing they would not do to make me feel special. As for the LA AA F lounge. Well I'm sure you have been there and done that.
Yes agree Watson.
Nothing impresses me about LAX, and that includes the F OWE lounge!
Last time I was there I heard a story that they banned wifi from the airport. Paranoia taken to a new level I reckon!
If I can miss LAX then I will. Other cities in this category include ROme (FCO), which is an absolute dump. Fly direct to Firenze these days for my Tuscan Soujorns!
Ciao Bella
Last time I was in Rome airport, the security guards carried machine guns. Scared my kids so much they asked me, Daddy will they kill us? Sorry but Rome is one airport I do not fly into.

 I take it you have never been under fire or been to a funeral of a mate killed in action. Sorry mate but you got that very wrong.
Been there, done that, lost mates and saw stuff that still keeps me awake at night. Got a Men in Black memory eraser handy?
I have some pretty deep military links and whilst I sympathise and understand, I disagree with you and agree with Spruce on this one. I take it you have never been under fire or been to a funeral of a mate killed in action. Sorry mate but you got that very wrong.
