Usually go with Avis in UK where the experience has ranged from excellent to studied indifference to outright piracy - but the one time we used Hertz was very professional and straightforward. Depends on the local operator I suppose.

Ahh booking has to be made and car picked up before 15/3 that would be my issue

I always have a separate car rental insurance policy, so doesn't bother me. Funny also how when companies have tried to charge me and I start giving over the details so they can process the claim....... it's then magically not a problem
