CDG-DOH is in a B777.

I'm in 11E, one half of a Q suite. High-quality seat as it is, I'd go for a single when travelling alone. I'm quite broad in the shoulder and felt I was pushing against the partition. This isn't a problem when travelling as a couple as the partition is down. Just as good when flat unless you are a back-sleeper

The menus. The only changes on wine was the champagne being Heidseck and the Bordeaux

Only predeparture water due to French regulations but I soon had my 🍾

Again service was excellent. Offered a later meal service and slept for a few hours.
A bonus salmon amuse-bouche

I don't think I've ever had soup on a plane. High-risk food with a shirt needing to manage the next 20 hours but the advantage of the suite door is not feeling self-conscious about using the napkin Italian-style

Osso bucco a good choice

Usually go for cheese rather than dessert but went for the cake
20220507_125725.jpg
Read for the rest of the trip before landing at remote gate. J buses (though some had Audis laid on)

Landed in DOH. Security looked at the Coco Chanel I'd bought in CDG but it was in a sealed bag and no problem.
Up to the Al-Safwa. Bit of a queue with half being turned away 😞 (they usually have staff at the bottom of the escalator to prevent this)

Excellent showers are via a Spa room. Water features in the corridor and at the entrance

Food again superb
Champagne rose

Chicken Kabsa with a sublime Pauillac Bordeaux

And a splendid Chardonnay

I usually do the “Italian-style” if I’m wearing a shirt with buttons. Just about every airline‘s F/J napkins have a button hole - or occasionally one of those tiny peg things (took me a few years to work out the peg…). Less of an issue if you’ve already slipped into PJs.

Speaking of, are QR still handing out PJs?

Otherwise, the F&B looks as good as ever!

Very jealous you got into the Al Safwa!

Q Suites - much prefer the single seats and rear facing (closer to window) seats even when travelling with a partner. I think I just like being near a window. And yes, PJs still handed out on long night flights.

Stayed in the Al-Safwa as long as possible which meant a brisk pace to C19 to board my final leg. DOH-SYD on an A350. Quick pic of the bear beforehand

I'm in 5A on the aisle. There is a family group of 4 on the adjoining Q-suite which is a fabulous layout with all the dividers down.

Menu. Only a change was back to the original French Red and champagnes on the wine list

So you are Qatar WP then to get into Al Safwa? Looks amazing. We are 3/5 A and 3/5k on our flights to and fro Doha and an A380 through to LHR. Just over a week now.
Yes, probably the best specific benefit I have had from VA Plat is the Status Match to QR (thanks to @Gold Member for bringing it to my attention).
Probably my last visit but you never know

Over the mountains and Hawkesbury then into SYD

Cheese plate before landing (had skipped brekky)

eGates easy, no Toblerones in DF!, bag ready at carousel, straight through customs and into a taxi for Mother's Day dinner in Freshwater. Who said international travel was hard these days?

Very nice TR but I never got to an OS conference without Mrsdrron. However that meant we could take the long way home. Not only more hotel and airline loyalty points but much more valuable brownie points.

But there were puppy babies to care for! And we need more pictures now. 😀

Thanks andye, I've enjoyed your Trip Report very much. You have convinced me that I need to get back to Europe again, even though I've been there so many times. I'm inspired by the current travels by dr.ron and mrs.dr.ron too! Life is too short to stay home.
