Unable to book TG or SQ awards using United miles

From what I saw prior to UA pulling all SQ availability they initially had the A330, 787, and 772 bookable but (SQ or UA) pulled the 787 a couple of months before pulling the rest. I wouldn't be surprised to see it is just the 772 and A330 bookable if SQ awards come back.

Haven't seen any updates but SQ A380 J was bookable via Air NZ online when they brought their award system online. But SQ disappeared and then I read about UA issues so I think it's related. Makes me think it's more of an SQ initiative than a partner thing. Wonder if they're using partner inventory to go into their Spontaneous Escape deals monthly. Speculating.

I'll be interested to see when UA SQ availability pops up if it returns to NZ also.

interesting question.

it should only be that SQ regional J/F is available, not long haul (at least not long haul premium product, although i don’t know if there is much of the old angled long-haul seating left now?)

777-300ER J long haul was available as well with NZ. I don't remember if I searched Christchurch. Thought we had it too good! :(

SQ Awards are back on united.com.

I have just managed to change a J award booking from a red eye A330 to a more civilised morning departure on the A350.

so they're releasing more than just a330/772 flights on united now? interesting.

They were releasing B787 and regional A350 for a little while there, it stopped a few weeks before they all dissapeared. That was at least on the SIN-PER flights.

It was route specific in the past. If it's for an A350 plying SIN-CGK, IIRC, it was always a possibility.

I'm seeing loads of availability in J on on SIN-MEL ..... on SQ 248, but nothing on any of the other flights. SQ248 is the 772 flight.

From my experience SQ placed blocks based on aircraft type so the 772, 330 were bookable on any route but any flights operated by other aircraft were not.

When the regional 787 and 350 were added they were initially not blocked and could be booked by partners but that changed a few weeks before all availability disappeared when searching with UA.

hrm, I can see Y across all SQ aircraft, but only regional J. Certainly no more 787 or A350. What route did you upgrade to on the A350?

Eg. Searching KIX-SIN, I can return the A330 in J, but only Y on the 787. Same as cough-SIN, I know that you once used to be able to obtain J on cough-SIN, as I had a booking.

Glad its back, and UA were never a strong SQ partner for redemptions, but a 772/A330 is still a good use of points IMO.

SIN-PER (As part of a MLE-SIN-PER booking). It wasn't an upgrade just a change of flight. I was already in J on the later red eye 330 flight.

I previoulsy was able to book in J PER-SIN-BKK and KIX-SIN-PER but that was a few years ago and haven't looked since.

I will admit I don't look at Y awards so have no experience there.
