Looking for Pros & Cons of both aircrafts in Economy or best pick of aircraft.
Considering the SFO/SYD route but its a 777-300ER, I cant find much information on how old these aircrafts may be or seat comfort/humidity levels would be compared to a 787-900.
I flew the 787-900 last year LAX/SYD and was pleasantly surprised so inclined to stick with that but the SFO/SYD flight has better connections for me this time around.

I had a similar option to choose recently. Originally booked PER-SIN-SFO return utilizing SQ and UA for my trip next month. Last week noticed that I could change the return flight to SFO-BNE/SYD then VA across to Perth for a nominal amount.

Looked at both the SFO-SYD (77W) and SFO-BNE (787) and ultimately went with the BNE flight as I thought the terminal transfer would be easier and the long trans-pacific flight a bit shorter.

Aircraft type did not really influence my decision as both the 787 and 77W are similar vintage. I flew the inaugural UA 787 MEL-LAX back in October 2014 when they had just introduced the type to Australia. United was a late-comer to the 77W with this plane coming online starting 2016. The plane operating the SYD/SFO leg today arrived in April 2017. 787 seating will be 3-3-3 versus 3-4-3 for the 77W.

If you would like a hand trying to upgrade out of economy send me a message, went down the rabbit hole with the united upgrade system at the start of the year. It normally does cost money but its alot less than through the app.

Similar query but in regards to J.
Amazing availability for close out with some flights having 8 or 9 J seats available so looking at a spur of the moment trip at some stage this year. Any noticeable difference between the 2 and pro’s and con’s?
SYD-LAX seems to be on the 789 whilst SYD-SFO is on the 777 so for a US newbie the arrival airport might be a consideration.
We always head to Europe but looking at something different

No appreciable difference between the Polaris hard product. Conventional wisdom is that the 787 is easier on passengers...quieter and lower cabin altitude.

I have flown both in J. Much prefer the 787 for these reasons - you land feeling so much better IMO.
