Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Exception: Reward Seats on itineraries to, from or via the United States

Bookings made at least 7 days prior to departure may be cancelled up to 24 hours after confirmation, without penalty by calling the Membership Contact Centre on 13 18 75.
The bolding refers to the part underneath. This is US DoT regulation...free cancellation must be allowed within 24 hours of booking. For all other bookings not touching the US the standard cancellation fee will apply.

As reported on OMAAT and VFTW, UA is cutting capacity on its US<->AU routes (no doubt due to over extending themselves on this particular TPAC market).
Just hope this doesn't signal a death knoll for their award availability on VA.

I've flown 2 times in the last 12 months to the U.S. and back on the dreamliner out of melbourne. I was in economy plus and not had anyone next to me. The last time coming back I had the whole row. It was great for me, but I was wondering how long they could sustain that.

I took two flight so the US last year and both were near capacity. I've got 2 next year, reward availability looks good for the first one in March but I'll be paying OOP for the second lot in May.

I don't fancy the other airlines that fly to the US, I wish VA still flew there, the best flight to the US were on VA aircraft.

March? Is this a Y or J redemption? I was led to believe that J redemption availability is only good about a month out (even as close as day of)?

Ok brains trust…I need your help. I think I have mucked up :(
Have been watching for flights from US back to Aust week of 16th December. There have been lots of economy seats available from multiple locations as seen on Seats.aero. Log on today (1st time since weekend) and all the flights from Lax/Sfo are no longer visible and according to Virgin site there is nothing from the 10th till after Christmas. The flights are still running according to United and seem to have lots of availability. Can book from MCO to Melb/Syd using a LAX/SFO connection though
Have I missed our opportunity or is there just a bug that they might be fixing?

Missed, they’ve been snagged or pulled. It’s a popular time of year and United controls the inventory. You can also search the United website to see X economy remediation seats.

How do I see that? Sorry new to redeeming points for anything other than domestic
