Haven't seen this mentioned on AFF, but I have seen it listed on a travel blogs.

If anyone is in the market to top up with some cheapish united miles, choice hotels has a promotion on at the moment to buy their points at 30% off. They can then be transferred to united who have a further 30% bonus on the points transferred from hotel programs.

The choice promotion is only on for a couple more days though.

Via choice and transfer I just brought 32,500 united miles for $385 US dollars. They haven't fully transferred through yet, so waiting to see if United award the expected 30% (otherwise it will be 25k points for $385).

I was in the market to buy 26k points to top up my balance to redeem for a trip back to Aus from Europe later next year. This is way better than my other options that all worked out to be around $500 US to get similar amount of points.

Hope this helps someone, but it is time dependant as Choice hotels promotion finishes Friday 17th Nov (US time I expect so a bit of leeway).

Now to work out what flight to pick on the way back from Europe.... Thai F all the way from Frankfurt via BKK, or Asiana F to Seoul and then J back to Aus. hmmmm

(oh and a link with the promotion details: Buy Choice Points For 30% Off (Or Buy United Miles For 1.18 Cents Each) - One Mile at a Time )

Yes, saw this. Have to say that my view is the Choice points can be even more valuable for Choice Hotels, e.g. I booked on in Stockholm for 10K point when the website price was about $350. Much cheaper to buy the points, particularly with a promo.

Lufthansa F!

The 30% bonus points haven't come through yet... just the normal transfer amount. Which is still not bad compared to buying straight from united (even considering their latest promotions). So 0.015 us cents a point so far which is still pretty good. Hoping the 30% extra comes in the next month or so, as I have heard United can be tardy in applying the bonus transfer points.

Would love to do the Lufthansa F, but don't think I want to risk waiting for the two weeks out before booking the return flight. I better get onto booking it actually, don't want to miss out on what is already there!

Or change once booked!

Definitely TG F all the way, especially if you can get the 8am ex-BKK. Two day flights in nice F with good connection are better than one great F and one average overnight J IMO. Actually I’m about to book similar route soon with TG hoping to swap to LH T-14 (well worth the $US125 fee).
