Unknown catering on MH from 1 Sep onwards (caterer "transition")

As foreshadowed we flew ADL-KUL-DEL in J yesterday. ADL-KUL had a full service three course meal. Forgot to take photos of the entrée, smoked salmon, very nice.

I had chicken for mains, nicely cooked, moist.

Mrs jxv was not so lucky with the beef. Her comment included a reference to boot leather.

The meal on KUL-DEL was a tray affair. We both had the chicken. It was dried out and the duck and potato salad entrée was not the best either. Even the chocolate cake dessert was only sampled and then left. I didn’t contemplate unwrapping the bread roll, but later surmised that it could have been the best part of the meal!

Please tell me the satays have not been impacted by this change?!?! (it's often the only thing I eat onboard)

The meal on KUL-DPS in J on 3/11 was decent, although I would compare it to a good long-haul Y meal. For a 3 hour flight, no complaints, although the satay was cold and dry. Bread (not pictured) was served warm and tasted good.

The return flight from DPS on 7/11 was sad - served in an aluminum tray! The fish was bland, and the sauce had lumps in it. Bread was cold and dry. I guess DPS-KUL is still in the 5% of routes that haven’t recovered!

I hate when they (at midnight - body clock time) turn the lights on full. MH, please desist - this impresses nobody and is unnecessary.
My then 4yr old needed an air sick bag for the remainder of the flight on MH after they did that...not on the better memories I have with an otherwise acceptable airline.

Agreed. It may be acceptable at Guantanamo Bay, but on a 4-star airline, it shows ignorance and a lack of respect. We can only vote with our feet.

Previously I have asked the CSM to turn them down, which he did oblige, but this should be part of their SOP and not require Sprucegooses’s intervention.

ADL-KUL J meal last Friday
2x glasses of Champagne served before takeoff. Champagne Delavenne which tasted ok and better than the stuff served previously.
About 30 minutes after takeoff we were served some nuts and beverages.
Satays came out about another 30 minutes later and were absolutely superb. Second were offered shortly afterward which I accepted.
Lunch was then served about 30 minutes after that and consisted of warm bread a nice plate of leaves and the Ginger Beef mains which was a very nice meal. Caramel mousse was tasty too and shorty after clearing the table tubs of Gelato were handed out. Staff very proactive with drink refills for whole flight and no need for call button. About 90 minutes from landing staff offered up noodles, pies, sandwiches etc plus cheese platter. I was too full so declined but great service and good flight. Was in my favourite throne seat 1K which was an added bonus. Plaza Premium lounge at ADL had good coffee and a decent food selection so super happy with the overall package.
