Hi

I flew EK metal on a cash ticket DXB-MEL and entered my QFF, I then used some EK miles to upgrade from premium economy to J.

I didn't get miles for this leg but did for the previous leg which I didn't upgrade. I lodged a missing points claim but QFF have processed it as unsuccessful. See screenshot attached.

Are they correct? Should I not earn for the original class of booking?

Thanks

Can you upgrade using EK miles when booked with a QF flight number?

On the assumption that the answer to the above question is yes and you originally booked with a QF flight number, I wonder if the upgrade switched the flight from one with a QF flight number to one with a EK flight number — they agent essentially rebooked you on the EK flight when they processed your upgrade.

Should still credit miles though.

I suspect they’ve replaced the QFF number with a EK SR# to process the upgrade. Did the flight credit to EK?

I don't think you earn SC unless you book the QF code?

I don't mean SC. Not expecting SC as I booked as EK code.

I booked EK code and upgraded using Skywards.

Nope didn't credit to EK either.

Some of EK J upgrades come with zero benefits, eg no lounge access etc. Would this apply to points as well?

Should still be given the points for original class of booking though I would have thought...

I have come back to AFF after ages, is there still a QF rep that can help look into this? :D

I’ve recently found out that even if you do a manual points claim now they just thump it in to the system and let it automatically approve or reject. In my experience previously if you did a manual claim it got manual approval.

Now you have to wait for it to be rejected and then raise a case for it to be reviewed manually.

Which is why I ignore the online form now. The success rate is pretty bad. Presumably the underlying reason something didn't post in the first place (despite your FF details correct etc) causes the online claim to hiccup also.
Email in the details works 1st time 99% of the time.

Yes. As above, email in a claim with eTicket and BP. Mention that your just claiming original purchased fare / sector.

Did you leave the EK# in the booking. Does BP show QFF#?

You would have had to have flown with QF# to be eligible and you will need to prove that to QF

No that’s precisely opposite to my point. It used to be that way. Now they just put it into the same system as the online form so the result is the same. I confirmed this is the new procedure when I called to follow up about a claim last week. They won’t manually review a claim until it’s been rejected.

I’d probably just do the online form from now on and skip a step.

Totally off topic:

The previous Pakistan International Airlines livery was one of the best.

Definitely had QFF on it as the previous leg credited the points correctly, just not the leg I upgraded.

I'll try sending an email.

My guess is that because you flew in the upgraded cabin class. I'll call ut U, but EK uses something else I think, which is not eligible, that is what EK sent through to QFF so ineligible makes sense.

You'll need to give QFF yoir ticket confirmation for your Y booking plus BP stub copy as proof I suspect so they can credit you for the apprioriate Y earn manually.

Most likely booking EK code could be the pinger.
Should have bought the QF and flown the code.
Maybe the upgraded (class) code EK have used does not exist in QFF.
Flying the EK code earns much less than if flying under the QF code.

Actually the OP did have QF code share flight - got points for the first leg. Issue is that they upgraded the second leg (DXB - MEL) using Skywards points (EK) and didn't deceive any QF points for the original class booked (Y).

No, as per post #5 apparently all booked as EK codes - so still should have posted for QFF points.

Hopefully a call to Qantas Frequent Flyer will see the logic and award the points.
